“Thanks for the invite,” Liam said.

“Can I get you guys a beer or something?”

“A beer would be great,” Alex said.

“Beer for me too.".

“Have a seat.” Preston retrieved their drinks and then joined them in the living room. “Any luck in finding a place to live?”

One of Benson’s many cousins managed a real estate firm and was looking for something for them.

“Not yet. Brittany said she’d try to locate a nice rental for us, but since Wildwood would soon be in ski season, she said the pickings would be slim.

“She’ll find something, I’m sure.”

Alex leaned forward, his elbows resting on his knees and his beer bottle dangling from his fingers. “I know you asked that we watch Ariel to make sure no one takes her, and we’re happy to do that, but Liam and I were thinking. No one knows us in Midvale, which means we might be able to ask some questions without raising suspicion.”

That was a tempting offer. “I’d hate to drag you two into our problems.”

“Don’t worry. While we are excited to train other werewolves, we loved working on the last case with General Armand. Not only are we unknowns in that other town, we can fight. I doubt this Franklin Clan would stand a chance against us—assuming we aren’t triple-teamed.”

Preston suspected that during his practice today neither man had been as aggressive as they could have been. “We may take you up on your offer.”

Just as he said that, pinpricks of desire shot all over his body when voices filtered in from the outside. “Ariel and Benson are here.”

“I can’t wait to meet her,” Alex said.

A second later, his roommate and Ariel came in. She looked straight at Preston and then ran her gaze up and down his body. “I’m glad these two men didn’t harm you too much.”

“Are you kidding? I could have taken them both, but I didn’t want them to become discouraged.” Okay, that was a total lie. From her broadened smile, she knew he was kidding.

Both Liam and Alex stood and introduced themselves. “Nice to meet you,” Ariel said. “Benson said I’ll be having two bodyguards for a while.” Her slightly narrowed eyes at Benson implied she wasn’t all that thrilled.

“You know it’s for your own good,” Benson shot back.

“I know. If you’ll excuse me, I need to change,” she said. “We had a sick dog at the clinic. I won’t go into the details. Suffice it to say, I smell bad even to me.”

Her comment wasn’t necessary. Werewolves had a heightened sense of smell. There was no doubt what had happened.

“I, too, want to get out of this suit,” Benson said.

Both Benson and Ariel went into Benson's room. “Are you two hungry?” Preston asked the men. “I, for one, am starving after that workout.”

“We can eat ten times a day and not be filled up, but what about Benson and Ariel?” Liam asked.

“I’m sure they’ll want to eat too. We could have some pizza delivered if you’d like?”

They looked at each other. “That sounds great,” Liam said. “Throw in some breadsticks, and I’ll be in heaven.”

“You got it.”

When Ariel returned, Preston asked if she was up for pizza.

“Totally.”

They discussed what to order and then Preston called in for delivery. “Ariel, you’re scheduled to be at the rescue center tomorrow, right?” Preston asked.

“Yes. I work there for half a day, and then I’ll need to return to the clinic.”
