“Tedara, who is using you? Who is behind the virus? How do I stop it?”

“Free me,” she roared with anger, and I hunched forward as pain blossomed across my chest. “They’re suffering!” she cried. “They’re suffering!”

She continued to yell those words, louder and louder, and the ache in my chest grew worse. I closed my eyes, the pain almost crippling me… and I opened them to find myself in the room with Hydum and the others. Only Hydum was on the ground, throwing up blood.

Rehema helped Hydum lie down, then with a hand on his chest, she healed him.

Now that I’d returned, my breathing returned to normal. However, I could feel a new sensation setting in. In the same way I’d felt Tedara, I could feel infected souls. And there were many of them in the city.

“You went too far,” Hydum said through clenched teeth when he sat up. “You could have killed us both.”

“We need to get out of here,” I said to the others. “They’re in the city.”

“Who is in the city?” Rehema asked.

Just then, Rumir stepped away from us, his hand up to silence everyone. An explosion shook the room, and I jumped to my feet.

“It’s not her,” I said as Rehema removed her bow from her back, her eyes glowing green. “Tedara isn’t the one creating the virus.”

The others looked at me as if I'd gone mad. I felt my powers stir inside me, recalling the rage Tedara had felt.

“We’ve been so wrong,” I mumbled. “We’ve been looking in the wrong place. Someone here, in this realm, is behind this chaos!”

“What are you saying?” Hydum asked, growing even paler. “That someone is using Tedara’s power to create the virus? How? No one has access to her realm.”

Another explosion shook the room, and I felt a surge of anger.

“I don’t know who or how, Hydum. You pulled me back before she could tell me. But she’s suffering in chains. And she’s been framed,” I growled, my fists clenched. “And I’m going to find out by whom!”
