"I want you to mark me," I blurted out.
Neither man said anything. Finally, Axel propped himself up. When Xavier did the same, my cheeks warmed from their intense stares, but I wasn’t going to take back what I said.
With the war, we’d had little time to work on our relationship, but I knew that I didn't want to go another day without being officially mated to these two men. We’d faced the end of the world together during the Vampire War, and we’d received a second chance. I didn't want another hour to pass.
"I'm ready," I said.
Xavier sat up. “You just got back,” he said. “We don’t have to rush.”
“We aren’t rushing,” I replied. “I just don't want another day to pass without being yours. I love you—both of you."
Xavier looked at Axel. Although they seemed hesitant, their eyes had changed to black, and our mate bond was humming in my ear in agreement.
"I don't want to make things awkward for either of you, though," I said, chuckling sheepishly. "We're starting over, and I want you to know that I want us to take this step—if you’re ready.”
“We passed awkward a long time ago,” Axel said with a smile.
Xavier cupped my cheek. “I would have given anything to see or speak to you again,” he said softly. “Now you're lying beside me, and I have no intension of letting you go ever again."
He moved my hair away and kissed my shoulder, and I shuddered at the sensation.
"We'll go as slow as you need us to," Axel said gently, and I laid down, my heart galloping in my chest.
I gazed at them both, my two beautiful mates, and my belly dropped with anxiety at the sight of their elongated teeth. I touched their cheeks and caressed their skin, the anticipation of what would happen making me flush, but I trusted them. I was just anxious about the incredible life we were about to live.
“Are you ready?” Xavier asked, as Axel kissed down my shoulder to my fingers, making my toes curl.
My wolf awakened, and an ancient instinct set in, calming my nerves. I nodded. "Yes," I whispered. “I’m ready.”
