"Which is why you're here to protect it," I stated.

"Correct. I've been looking after the Moon Dial for fifteen years, making sure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands."

Interesting. That seemed like a long time for him to be living in solitude to guard an ancient relic of Selene's. But where did Sabina fit into all of it? Roxanne was walking behind me, and I had to wonder if she was able to read their thoughts. If so, what did she pick up on from their mind?

"We're here," Sabina said.

Looking ahead of her, the log cabin sat surrounded by thick trees. The size of it was what I expected, complete with a front porch and a small shed off to the right. It looked cozy enough, even if it was in the middle of nowhere. I was just glad to be able to sit down somewhere and take a breather after everything that just happened. Halfway to the steps, the front door opened, and that was when I got my second surprise. One that I had to consider Mother Moon's true blessing to me.

"Oh good, you guys made it back safely!" said my grandmother.

Kao, Javier, and I froze in our tracks. I didn't want to move, thinking it was all a dream and it would vanish if I took another step. I was scared that if I ran to her and tried to hug her, she would disappear before my arms could wrap themselves around her. My breathing grew heavy as I looked her over, seeing Grandma was okay. She was alive and in one piece. She wasn't dead somewhere only God knew where because of Pierce.

"No way," Kao said hoarsely, looking just as flabbergasted as I felt.

When Grandma's eyes fell on us, her smile widened, and she hurried down the steps. That did it for me. I ran for her, daring myself to hope, to believe, that she was really here. As soon as my arms were around her, and hers around me, I knew this wasn't a dream. I cried out her name and held her with everything I could.

"Oh, my sweet girl," Grandma spoke softly, stroking my hair while I sobbed into her shoulder. "It's all right, I'm safe. I'm here now."

"I was so worried about you," I said in a shaky voice. "I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I left you to Pierce. I'm sorry I ran instead of trying to get you back. I'm so sorry about everything."

"You have nothing to apologize for. You did the right thing, Rosie, you understand me? I'm glad you rejected him and went somewhere safe. You did exactly what I wanted you to do."

"But he said he would kill you if I rejected him. I rejected him anyway."

"Yes, you did, and it was something I'm glad you did. Do not feel sad about it. The point is, you got away, and I'm here now. I'm not dead. Let's be happy for that, okay?"

I nodded because I couldn't find the words to speak anymore. I prayed that she was still alive, but a part of me thought it was too late. I thought I lost her, one of the only family members I had left other than Javier. Now I had more questions to ask, surprise, surprise.

Begrudgingly, Grandma and I stepped back from our embrace. She wiped the tears from my eyes and kissed the top of my forehead. When she looked up her face brightened even more. "And is that my grandson I see there?"

We pulled apart to make room for Javier to step in and hug our grandmother. He never got the chance to see her before Pierce took her, so this was their first reunion since our parents moved us away from Kingsrose. Javier looked as emotional as I was, but he composed himself better. Grandma stepped back, placing a hand on each of our cheeks, her expression competing with a bright morning sun.

"Oh, look at this, my two grandbabies all grown up and taking on the world together. It seems like it was only yesterday I was changing your diapers and wiping off sauce all over your bodies,” Grandma cooed.

"Abuelita," Javier and I both whined at the same time, slightly embarrassed considering we had an audience, and I was certain I heard someone chuckling in the background.

Kao joined in on the group hug, thankful to have her back in our lives. Raph and Caleb stood there awkwardly since they never officially met her before. Not to mention they were still missing three of their own group. When we got ourselves out of this mess, I would see to it that Grandma visited the Blue Moon Pack, so she can meet the rest of her honorary grandkids on Javier's side.

"I don't understand," I said, which was the understatement of the century.

"We'll explain everything later," Sabina cut in. "Let's get everyone inside first and then we'll talk."

"That sounds like a plan," Grandma said.

Admittedly it was a little crowded when we all stepped inside the log cabin. It was clearly meant for one or two people to live in. Half of us took a seat around the small rectangular table near the kitchen, while the rest of us huddled around the living room, sitting on the sofa or the floor. Rowan had water boiling in a kettle over a gas-burning stove. When it was ready, he poured each of us a cup with green tea bags and a couple slices of lemon. Once we were settled and drinking our tea, Sabina cleared her throat.

"Now I'm sure you all have a lot of questions you’d like to ask."

"Gee, what gave it away?" Kao asked dryly.

Sabina sent him a glare but said nothing else to him. "Rowan and I found Grandma Sonya farther north of Oregon in another town. Stowed away in a vacation house with betas guarding her. We managed to rescue her and bring her here safely."

"How did you know where to find her?" I asked, thankful she was still in the state, but it would've been tough to know what city she was in. I wouldn't know where to begin to look.

Rowan spoke up to answer the question. "As you're well aware, my wolf form is rather... different from yours. With my three forms come even more enhancement to my strength, speed and senses, including my sense of smell."

"I took something from your grandmother’s house that had her smell on it, and Rowan was able to pick up the trail," Sabina added.
