My eyelids felt like lead, but I pushed for them to open. I saw my mate up ahead, still struggling to break through, but now their bodies were glowing with turquoise energy. I felt their fragments of the Wolf Moon's gifts blossoming like flowers after a rainstorm. I pushed more of my energy into them, as much as they could take. Willing for them to reach their full potential. Then I saw it, their bodies twitching. I didn't let up, even for a minute. Right before my eyes, I saw Kao and Joaquin begin to shift again. Not into their human forms. Their wolf bodies expanded and convulsed, standing up on their hind legs and giving a more human-like stance. When the glow around their forms faded, there they both stood. Joaquin and Kao had achieved their Lycan forms early.

The bluish flames that were wrapped around my body retracted inside me, vanishing along with my strength. My body felt ten times heavier. I was about to fall on my face, but a pair of strong arms wrapped around me and held me up.

"Easy, I got you," Byron's voice registered.

I looked at him with hooded eyes, sleep threatening to pull me under, but I resisted. Byron gave me a warm smile as brushed my damp hair off my face and tucked it behind my ear. "Thank you," I said weakly.

"You did it. You were amazing," he praised, and it felt good to hear it.

Dual howls rang in the direction of the dome. I looked back to see Kao and Joaquin's Lycan forms, the Wolf Moon's mark brightly lit on their foreheads like a beacon. With newfound strength, they pushed against the barrier alongside Rowan. Their hold much stronger than it was previously.

"You think they can do it?" Byron asked me.

I sat up and watched as they slowly cut through the electrical force that was trying to keep them away. I felt weak, but they needed my help.

"Yes," I said confidently as I forced more of the Wolf Moon's gift out of me. The bluish flames of energy returned as quickly as it vanished. Every muscle in my body screaming, but I ignored the pain.

"Rosie, don't!" Byron exclaimed. "You've already overexerted yourself!"

"I have to. I won't let them do this alone." With that, I let out a scream as ripples of turquoise energy pulsated. It not only connected with my mates, but also Rowan. I may not have given him the Wolf Moon's gift, but I could still sense his within his body. I willed my power to reach all three of them, giving them the strength they needed. They pushed, and pushed, and pushed. They finally managed to connect with the black mass that formed the barrier, cutting through it with their claws like scissors on paper. Their muscles bulged with veins popping out as they forced the dome to open. Within seconds, the dome was nothing but shards of glass that exploded. We all reeled back, bracing ourselves as a wave of explosive energy erupted. Byron used his body to shield me, but thankfully none of us seemed to be harmed.

We looked back to see that the dome was done. All that was left was a thick cloud of smoke. Now was our chance. "The wall is down! Go!" I ordered with a strained voice. Rowan, Kao, and Joaquin already ran through the smoke. The betas that accompanied us followed behind them. I felt bad for slowing Byron down, but I was thankful for his help, otherwise I would've been left lying in the middle of the street.

"Here, climb on my back," Byron offered, squatting down in front of me.

Every fiber of my body fought with me to stay still, but with gritted teeth and sheer determination, I managed to get my arms around his neck and positioned myself behind him. Byron reached back to grab me from under my legs, hauling me up as he stood. When I was situated on his back, he jogged through the smoke to catch up with the pack. When we cleared it, we saw that everyone was huddled in one spot again. They moved out of our way so we could reach the front where the three Lycans were. I gasped when we saw why they stopped.

There was a man standing a few feet from us with white hair and dressed head to toe in black. He had something slumped over one shoulder. No, not something... someone.

"K-Kai!" I shouted for my mate who hung there immobile. He was in his human form, his pale skin coated in streaks of blood as some dripped to the small pool beside them. For a moment I feared the worst. I feared that he was dead, but I could still feel him through our bond. He was alive, but weak. The fact that the Blood Moon was still up but Kai was somehow back in his human skin had terror creeping up on me. Kai was in full Berserker Wolf mode, but he wasn't strong enough to win.

The man in question, Mordred, I presumed, looked from the three Lycans to me. "Well, it looks like I finally get to meet this generation's Queen of Wolves. Rosalinda Mendoza, correct?"

"Put my mate down, you bastard!" I growled, wanting to get off Byron, but he kept a firm hold on me.

"I'm afraid I can't do that. I find this one's dual powers to be quite useful."

Kao's Lycan roared with fury. He was about to go after Mordred, but then turned slightly, putting Kai between him and Kao, and my mate froze. Fearing that he may end up accidentally hurting Kai in the process. Instead, he shifted back to his human skin, but the Wolf Moon's marking was still visible on his head. "Put my brother down, you asshole! I won't let you have him!"

"I wouldn't worry yourself too much, Mr. Trivinij. Your brother is too valuable for me to kill right this minute."

"What do you plan to do with him?" Byron demanded.

"Nothing I'm sure he couldn't handle. A Berserker Wolf with the powers of the Wolf Moon. What an interesting combination, don't you think? A beast designed to kill with extraordinary strength. I'd love to experiment with him and see if I can bring out the true beast that lies dormant within him."

"He's not a lab rat for you to dissect and toy with!" Kao was seething with anger, his claws itching to tear into Mordred, but not while Kai could be used as a human shield.

The soft laughter that came from Mordred had my bones rattling. "Young man, don't you see? I'm merely planning to help him reach his full potential. Showing him a different path that will make a new man out of him." His gloved hand reached out to lightly run through Kai's matted black hair. I wanted to jerk his hand away from my mate, but I could barely move mine.

"Such a young and handsome man. So frail and yet brimming with potential. It'll be exciting to see what happens when I'm done with him," he said.

Kao's anger could be felt from where I was, burning with the heat of a thousand suns. The energy from the Wolf Moon's gift flowed through him like steam. For a moment, I thought he was going to shift again, but Kao stayed in his human form.

"Give. Back. My brother!" Kao lunged for Mordred but was hit with a gust of wind that repelled him from making contact. As he hit the ground, Joaquin and Rowan charged, both still in their Lycan forms. Mordred's eyes darkened and the shadows beneath him moved, stretching out into black tendrils and shooting up from the ground. They wrapped themselves around both Lycans, holding them in place. They tried to muscle their way through, but they were stuck.

Byron growled, looking to the betas. "Attack but be careful of Kai!"

Obeying, the pack of beta wolves went in next. Wisps of dark smoke formed around Mordred as his energy surfaced. A black circle appeared on his forehead, pulsating with black and red light. No, not a circle. A moon.
