"Sure, that's fine with me."

"Perfect. Let me get her settled in first, and then we'll step outside to prepare the spell."

"Is there a lot a preparation needed?" I asked, not knowing how magic worked all that much.

"We have to get a potion ready first, then have a circle ready for Roxanne to meditate in so she could focus on the minds of all humans in your town," Morgan said.

Roxanne added. "It shouldn't take us too long to have everything ready. An hour max."

I nodded. "Do what you need to, just be careful."

With that, I let the ladies go off so Morgan could get herself situated. I walked around the lodge, seeing all the new faces lurking around and making sure nothing was wrong. When I went out to the front, cheering could be heard before I walked out the door. A large circle was formed in the middle of the field, two our guests the only one inside it. One was standing, punching his fist in the air victoriously, and the other was pulling himself off the ground. Seemed like there was a fight taking place.

I scoped around the crowd, spotting my mates with Del, Rowan, and Javier among them, watching as another shifter stepped into the ring to replace the one who clearly lost. I reached them right when the fight began, tapping on Javier's shoulder to get their attention.

"Oh hey, Rosie! Come check it out," Javier said, my mates making room for me to stand in between them so I could see the fight up close. The buff guy with the wavy black hair and tattoos who won the last fight had his blond opponent in a headlock, forcing him to lean back while the blond tried breaking free from his hold.

"What is all this?" I asked, gesturing to the fight and the crowd.

"A few of the guys thought it'd be sporty to have challenge go on to see who can get the most victories," Joaquin said, having to raise his voice to be heard over the crowd. "The black-haired guy, Virgil, has already won three matches in a row."

"Looks like he's about to win his fourth," Byron said, his eyes glued to the fight, but still reached his hand out to lace his fingers with mine. So clingy, but it was cute.

"He's pretty good," Kao said as he cheered Virgil on.

"He's not that impressive," Del stated, sounding unimpressed.

The fight ended when the blond thought he had Virgil by grabbing him from behind, but Virgil flipped his opponent over his head and slammed him to the ground. He ended it with a swift kick that clocked the side of the blond's head when he tried getting up, knocking him back down and giving Virgil his fourth win. I was impressed.

"Now that's what I'm talking about," Virgil shouted. "Is there anyone here who can end my winning streak, or am I the strongest one here?"

"Oh, please." Del rolled her eyes and cracked her knuckles. "I'm about to end this man's whole career."

"Wait." Rowan reached out to stop her. "I'll do it."

I whipped my head in his direction with wide eyes. "You'll fight him?"

"Yeah. It'll be fun." Rowan winked at me, which had me confused as to why.

"Maybe for you," Kao said flatly. "You're a super wolf, remember? You'll be able to take him out easily."

"Kao has a point," Byron stated as he let go of my hand. "I'll fight him."

"What? Why?" I asked, surprised that he would volunteer to participate.

He shrugged. "Right now, I'm the only one of your mates who hasn't reached his Lycan form. Minus Kai, of course. So, I wanted to take this chance to prove myself to you."

"But Byron, you don't have to—"

"Anyone else wish to challenge me?" Virgil's bellowed voice cut off my sentence, which gave Byron the chance to respond.

"I challenge you!" he declared. The crowd created an opening for Byron to walk forward to face Virgil. I was still trying to figure out why he felt the need to prove himself to me. He more than did that before we even began to date. Then what Byron said about wanting to prove himself to his wife Carly when her ex challenged him came back to me.

Virgil brightened when he spotted Byron taking his challenge. "Finally, we have one of our hosts participating. I'm Virgil Calhoun of the Autumn Springs Pack. I want to thank you and your pack for your hospitality."

"Byron Fitz." Byron introduced himself. "And we're glad to have someone of your skills fighting alongside us. But that won't change you losing this fight."

The crowdooh’dat Byron's bold statement. I'd seen Byron fight before, he was tough. But I wasn't sure how good he was in comparison to Virgil.
