Saint winced. "Yeah, I did."

"Who the hell are you? Where the hell am I?"

Saint sighed. "I'm exactly who I said I was. I'm Jasper Saint, and you are at Abott Manor."

Gabe rolled his eyes. "Abott Manor is also the home of Rogues Division. We're a secret government facility. Saint is one of our operatives."

I turned to him, finally understanding. All the half-truths, the hours he kept, the things I couldn't add up in my head. The outright lies. "You're a fucking liar."

CHAPTER 35

KAYA

"I have to tell you,I'm getting pretty tired of you people tranquilizing me."

Gabe Webb gave me a wide grin. "Well, if I hadn't done something, you were likely to kill Saint."

"I feel like that would be an improved status for him."

He smirked. "Sometimes I might agree with you."

"You should have let me kill him."

"Well, in this instance, I still need him. Thank you for agreeing to meet with me."

"Did I have a choice? I woke up to some very large men standing over me, telling me I had a meeting with you. So, here I am."

"I know this is disorienting."

"Well, generally when you tranquilize someone and they wake up in a different place, it's disorienting. I’ve been B.A. Baracus’d.”

His brows lifted. "AnA-Teamreference?"

"I lovedA-Team. I used to watch reruns all the time."

"Fair enough.”

“My foster dad is American. He got us all into watching the DVDs. Can you imagine?"

"I can imagine." He sighed and stapled his fingers as he sat back. "Listen, Kaya, I know none of this has been easy, and well, you have a right to be angry with Saint. But you should know that he was following my orders."

"Orders, is that what those were?” Every time he kissed me? Every time he touched me? Every time he made me feel seen? My birthday, were those orders too? “You have a funny way of doling out orders."

"You're angry, and you have every right to be. But we're in a delicate situation here."

"Look, I don't know anything about anyone. I'm a college student. That's it. All I want is to just go back to my life where there is no chaos. Since I met him and all of you people, there's been nothing but chaos in my life."

Gabe cocked his head. "Is that true?"

"Of course, it's true. My flat got blown up. Gas leak, my ass. I've had men chasing me. I've gone on television and told the world that I'm marrying that arsehole."

Gabe just crossed his arms then sat back and watched me. I scowled at his apparent nonchalance. "What's that look for?"

"I don't have a look."

"Yes, you do. I don't even know you, and I know that's a look."

"All right, fine. Would you argue that all of that is our fault?"
