Page 58 of Trust Me

“Your exception?” he asks with a questioning intonation to his voice.

My exception to the rule that all men are the same and can’t be trusted!

“Never mind,” I reply, shaking my head.

He tilts his head and sighs. “You. Are. Intoxicating,” he murmurs.

I smile as he lets me go. Looking completely content, he stares at me for the longest time then leans in kissing me softly, our lips together once again. Even though my lips are puffy from the copious amounts of lip-locking we’ve been doing, I would kiss him every second of the day if I could.

We spend a little time washing each other and then seeing as we’re both becoming wrinkled from the water, we decide it’s time to get out. Aiden turns off the shower as I open the door and step out onto the bathmat. He follows behind and grabs a few fluffy white towels from the cupboard, and I dry myself down.

Aiden wraps his towel around his waist, leaving his gorgeous chest and stomach dripping and bare for my viewing pleasure, and my breath catches at the sheer ruggedness of his god-like body. He notices me staring at him and raises his eyebrows insinuatingly, then grabs my hand, and we make our way to the bedroom.

“Do you need something to wear?” he asks, walking into his closet.

“No, it’s fine. I have my clothes from yesterday.” While getting dressed, Aden walks out of the closet dressed in a pair of jeans and a dark polo shirt.

“What’s for breakfast?” I ask. It’s crazy how effortless this feels.

“Actually, I think it’s almost dinner time,” he replies with a boyish grin.

I check the clock—it’s showing almost four. My mouth drops open, and a slight laugh escapes me.

“What’s for dinner, then?” I ask as we head out to his kitchen. He opens the fridge, looks around, then closes it again. “Want to go out for dinner?”

I nod and smile. “Sure.” So, I grab my bag, and we head to the parking garage, but Mike’s nowhere to be found. “Where’s Mike?”

“He has the day off every Sunday and second Monday.”

I look at him as an earlier mental question is answered. “Ah… so that’s why you were driving last Monday. I did wonder why you were driving and not Mike when we had the accident.”

“Yes, I’m glad I was. Otherwise, we may have never met.”

My brain doesn’t like the thought of not meeting Aiden. How much my life has changed in such a short amount of time, and honestly, I couldn’t be happier to have been in a wreck with this handsome man. He leads me to his Aston Martin and opens the door for me to get in, which I do somewhat gracefully, unlike my normal clumsy self.

He walks around and climbs into the driver’s seat. “Anywhere you want to go in particular?” he asks.

“How about you drive us to my place, and we can figure something out? My best friend, Sarah, really wants to meet you,” I tell him, leaving out the part about me wanting to show him off to her.

“Oh, really? And what exactly does she know about me?” he asks, driving off.

“Not much. Just that you’re okay looking,” I joke.

“Oh, I see, just okay?” He smiles, and I nod emphatically.

“Yeah, you’re almost unbearable to look at,” I tease, making him laugh.

“No more sex for Jeni. I get it. No problem, that’s fine.”

I put my hand on his and laugh. “There’s no fooling you. You’re perfect, faultless, and gorgeous,” I correct myself, making him laugh again.

“That’s better! Maybe I’ll let you have extraordinary orgasms again then.”

I scoff and raise an eyebrow. “I think we’ve both had extraordinary orgasms… multiple times, sir!”

He gives me his customary wink, then looks back to the road. I direct him to my house, which, as it turns out, is only a few minutes away. We pull up in the driveway, and I see Chris’ car parked on the side of the road.

“Sarah’s boyfriend is here. You’ll get to meet him, too,” I mention nonchalantly.

“Great,” Aiden answers.

He walks around to open my door as I search for the keys in my bag. I’m a little nervous, hoping Sarah will approve. I’m also hoping Aiden gets along with Chris, and that he doesn’t think my house is hideous compared to his classy apartment.

We walk to the front door as loud music blares from what I presume is the television. I’m pretty sure I know what I’m about to walk into as I put the keys in the lock and open the door.
