It’s probably the purest of the three bonds and it excites the hell out of me. His movements become erratic as I feel his own orgasm creeping up on him quickly. There’s not much stopping us now, and when he finally comes, he slams me down hard, holding me pressed against him. As I feel his cock pulsing deep within me as his knot locks us together, I hold on for dear life, slamming my hands against his chest. Riding out the waves of bliss that we’re now in. It’s probably one of the best orgasms I’ve had in my life, and yet I can’t get enough. I want to do it again, but we’re both sated and tired. It’s totally worth it. When his grip finally loosens up on me, I lay down on his chest and he wraps his arms tightly around me. I can’t help but smile as I gently kiss him. “Well, that was rather unexpected,” he says.

I laugh. “Yeah, you could say that.” Leaning back off to the side of him watching his eyes, the glow slowly fading back down to their normal shade of blue.

Chapter33

Sebastian

If you would have askedme last week what I thought Heaven was like, I would have described a place of beautiful scenery bathed in white light. With fields of gold surrounding a plentiful forest, a place where my wolf and I could run free for eternity and hunt as much game as we wished. But now with Belladonna laying on my chest, my arms wrapped around her, feeling her heartbeat in time with mine, this moment right here is exactly how I would picture Heaven to be. I found heaven in the arms of my mate, the one that completes you in your entirety. We made love under the stars numerous times last night out in the wild. We hunted together, played as our wolves, and then returned up here to sleep and to finish cementing our bond. I’m laying now curled around her, my arms wrapped around her body tightly, holding her to my chest. Her face as angelic as it looks, laying against my skin, I know the demon that lurks deep under this placid surface. But it’s like they say; still waters run deep and I know deep within her there’s a lot of emotional scarring from all the rejection from her parents.

She told me about her childhood and how she didn’t know who her parents were to almost eleven. Then she told me about the abuse she suffered at the hands of her father, catching me up on everything that her other mates already know. She told me about how she found the other two, how she had already gone through all the trials here. For somebody that wasn’t even her fated mate. She told me about how dirty the bond felt, how it wasn’t right, and how her wolf rallied against it and sparked her to search out her true mate. I knew the moment I saw her when she walked into my workshop. The second our eyes met; my wolf rejoiced. He pranced around happy and proud that our mate had found us. But with as possessive as Orwell was acting, I knew that she, unfortunately, either intended to take a compatible mate or was being forced to because of royal protocol.

A deep depression sets in when I found out about the final stage of the trials happening the other night, and that she was going to have to bite him in public in front of all to see. Thankfully and sadly, the rabble, as we call ourselves, the citizens of this town, were not invited to watch the claiming. I don’t know if it was just because it was Belladonna, and the king and queen knew he was only a compatible mate. Clearly, they didn’t want to take the chance that her actual mate would charge up and question and fight for her.

I’m not sure what the actual intention was, but their plans have been thwarted and she’s here with me now. I’m very thankful to Kaedyn and Hollis for prompting her to visit me. I knew that they had suspected something, by the way I reacted the moment she walked into my workshop. Even Kaedyn said something to me before they left; my omission of how I felt about her was enough of an admission. That gave him all the information he needed. He had the gut feeling that she was mine from that point. But being a royal has its own set of rules. But I have a feeling this angel in my arms will break all the rules.

She slowly stirs, and that sweet smile crosses her lips as she scoots up to kiss me gently. “What are you thinking so hard about?” She questions and sadly she’s already able to read me like a book. I can’t help but laugh thinking about the fact that she knows my tells already. Or maybe it’s because of the bond that she can feel that I’m not exactly being forward with everything that I’m thinking about.

I sigh softly because it makes no sense to hide anything from her. “To be perfectly honest. I was thinking about when we first met briefly. And how I knew you were mine. But I couldn’t react because of protocols. To go against the royals in this kingdom is a death sentence.” I feel her stiffen in my arms and she sits up quickly.

“What do you mean, a death sentence?” Crap, I definitely stepped into it this time. She gets off me and then sits up, waiting for me to answer. Slowly, I rise and sit to face her and extend my hands out to her.

“Well, it’s happened a time or two that if somebody questions what the royals are doing, or royal protocol, that they somehow miraculously vanish or meet with an accident within a couple of days of the event,” I state honestly and stare at her listening to her heart rate, accelerate and then decelerate.

“Interesting sounds like a stunt my father would pull,” she practically growls out as she looks at her folded hands in her lap.

“How often has this happened?” Her next question catches me off guard. The Shadow Court is not known for caring about what goes on in the other kingdoms.

“Well, not that often, since King Mateo took the throne. But it has happened, like the last female that petitioned for Orwell’s hand. The minute they announced you were coming to visit all the kingdoms, she vanished.” Tilting her head to the side, she stares at me for several moments. “What do you mean, she vanished?” Biting my bottom lip, I’m not sure how to phrase it, but I just blurt it out, anyway.

“Well, one day she was present. The next gone, no one has a clue where she went. Her family ended up moving shortly after her disappearance. One day they were there, the next day gone. As far as we know, or at least we suspect they were driven out of town just so that Orwell would be available when you arrived.” Bella suddenly stands up and paces. Apparently, she’s putting two and two together, and she’s not liking the number she’s coming up with. “That’s rather interesting,” she says. “This sounds more and more like a trick my father used to pull. Anytime there was a suitor interested in me, next thing you know, he and his family were gone. No traces, no forwarding address, just gone.” She moves to stand at the edge of the rock, looking out over the valley.

“There are so many changes I need to bring about to bring make this world safe again. So many changes.” She shakes her head, and her tone sounds sad.

So I rise to stand behind her and wrap my arms around her middle and rest my head on her shoulder. “Whatever you need, I’m here so are Hollis and Kaedyn. We’ll do whatever it takes to help you succeed in whatever you’re planning to do.” She leans her head back against me and I can feel the sigh as I hear it.

“That’s good to know.” Her tone is very bland at this point. I wouldn’t say it’s defeated, but it’s not as powerful as it was last night.

“What’s on your mind, Bella? Talk to me,” I say to her and then kiss her cheek gently. She remains silent for several beats and then turns in my arms to face me. “There’s so much corruption in most of the kingdoms. I know my father's blindness to it all probably inspired most of it. He was so worried about gaining his own power and wealth that he didn’t care about anybody else.” Her assessment of her father is spot on. At least, that’s the way the rest of us have always felt about the Shadow Kingdom. The Shadow Court itself was probably the most corrupt of all, with how her father did things. But now with her in charge, I’ve got this feeling that everything is about to get tipped on axis and changed, hopefully for the better for everyone involved.

She looks back out over her shoulder toward the valley. “We need to head back. There are several conversations I definitely need to have in the next twenty-four hours before we head off to the Fire Kingdom.” Tilting my head to the side, I looked down at her and then out over the trees below us.

“You know the Fire Kingdom hates us,” I state it as plainly as possible.

Bella laughs. “No, they hate Orwell and Callan because of a female. They’ll have nothing against you, and if they do, they have me to deal with.” She gets that wicked gleam in her eyes, and when she smiles, her wolf’s canines are descended in her mouth, and I know she means business.

“Okay then. If this is what you wish to do, then we’ll go.” I release her and step back and shift into my wolf. She smiles, looking down at him, and then drops to her knees before us. She plants a kiss on my muzzle and runs her fingers through my fur.

“You know, if you didn’t have the gray in your fur, your wolf would look very similar to Kaedyn’s.” She smiles as she runs her hands over my face, and I can’t help but close my eyes, reveling in the touch of my mate.

“We need to be off,” she says just before she shifts into her wolf. She backs up into the shadows of the mouth of the cave behind us and barks to get me to follow her. When I do, she clamps her mouth onto my neck; not hard but enough to have a good grip on me. The next thing I know, I feel like I’m being pulled through a tunnel and we arrive at the edge of the lake close to where we left our clothes. She releases me and licks where she had bitten. Immediately, she shifts back to her human form.

“I’m sorry to have done it that way. Initially, I’d plan to run here. But then I noticed the cave was still in the shadows and it was much faster to move through the shadows to get here than to run.” Looking a little sheepish, she tilts her head to the side and smiles as she bends over to pick up her dress and the undergarments that go with it. Shifting back to my human form, I can’t help but laugh.

“Well, that was a little unexpected, but effective.” She laughs as she pulls the last of her stockings up.

“Well, I’m glad that you thought it was effective. Because that’s the most efficient way to travel around.” She looks in the castle's direction. “We’re going into my closet next, so be prepared.” And here I thought for a second, she might be joking. The minute the last of my clothing is on and my shoes are back on my feet, she grips ahold of me and pulls me flush to her chest. I feel that familiar whoosh, and the dropping of my stomach like I’m on a roller coaster. Next thing I know, we’re in a pitch-black room. She pulls on a cord and, like she said, we’re in her closet.

She opens the closet door. Kaedyn and Hollis are sitting on the edge of the bed with their hands holding their heads up and suddenly they look up. “We were getting worried,” Hollis says, motioning between him and Kaedyn.
