Unfortunately, she didn’t have the chance to do so, as the door opened and Remington strode inside. She gasped at the bright light in his eyes because it called to something primal and wanton within her. Her pulse hammered in her veins, althoughshe did her best to keep her composure. At this point, it was almost inbred in her to act a certain way.

“My lor—er…Remington,” she corrected when he lifted a sardonic brow. “Forgive me, but it may take some time for me to be able to address you so informally.”

“Take however long you need, Isadora,” he murmured, obviously not suffering from the same impediment. He moved to her and set his hands on her shoulders and rubbed lightly. “You need to relax. You look nervous.”

“Do I?” she whispered. “I suppose it’s because I never thought I would find myself in this position.”

He tilted his head to the side. “How do you mean?”

“Married,” she noted with a shake of her head. “It still seems quite unfathomable.”

She stilled when he reached out and grasped a strand of her long hair. “I have always admired your raven hair.”

“It’s not quite that dark,” she countered, although her breathing had turned shallow. He was just so…close, that he quite enveloped everything around her, until she was conscious only of his presence.

His gaze warmed on her face. “It’s still just as lovely as you are.” He exhaled slowly. “Surely you are aware of how long I’ve admired you?”

“Have you?”

“Indeed.” He brushed his knuckles ever so gently against her cheek and she leaned into the sensation. It curled and fluttered all through her body, all the way to the tips of her toes. “The first time I met you, I knew that you were special, that you would someday, change my life.”

“And have I?” She was finding it difficult to speak coherently with her blood aflame for him.

He leaned closer until his breath was a mere whisper against her ear. She shivered when he spoke, “We’re here together now, aren’t we? And just a few short hours ago, we exchanged vows, pledging ourselves to each other. I should say that is definitely a change. And most certainly for the better, because now you’re mine.”

He kissed the side of her face and made a delicate trail across her forehead and then around her chin, but although Isadora’s lips were parted and eager for his mouth on hers, he kept his distance.

Finally, frustration compelled her to say, “Why won’t you kiss me?”

He smiled against her temple. “All in good time, Isadora. There’s no need to rush.”

“But I want you,” she nearly pleaded, her core beginning to throb urgently now.

“And you shall have me in good time. But first—” he smiled slowly. “I want to know everything about you and your body. By the time the dawn arrives, I don’t want there to be any secrets left between us. We will become as one.”

Initially,Rem thought he’d gone too far, as there was a sudden flash of alarm in her gaze. Not fear, but perhaps the apprehension of laying everything bare—and not just her body. But he was serious about what he’d said. He wanted to take his time and ensure that when he took her tonight, she wasn’t still thinking about Lord Abaline. He wanted to banish every thought of the baron until only Rem remained to pleasure her dreams, along with her every waking moment. He wouldn’t be satisfied until he’d exorcised those demons from her heart and freed her from the personal prison that she’d held herself in for so long. He wanted to help break those chains.

And he intended to do it tonight.

He bent down and kissed the exposed area of her collarbone. When that wasn’t enough to placate him, he slid a finger aroundthe edge of the material and teased the tops of her breasts. Her breath hitched and he knew she approved of his actions.

He smiled inwardly, and then licked a gentle path along her exposed skin. He loved the feel of the tremor that passed through her, because it meant he was doing his job right.

She lifted her hands and fisted them in his jacket. Although she was attired for bed, he was still fully dressed. With her gray eyes shimmering like chips of silver moonlight, she said, “You’re wearing too many clothes. I want to feel your skin against mine.”

Rem swallowed hard. No sweeter words had he ever heard. But it was going to be deuced difficult to remain in control when she was temptation itself. He shrugged out of the offending item while she removed the knot of his cravat and slid it off around his neck.

His waistcoat was next, but when she would have lifted his shirt out of his trousers, he stepped back from her with a wagging finger. “Not so hasty, my lady. Remember, this is a night meant to besavoredto its full extent.”

She looked as though she might argue with that reasoning, so he swooped in for a kiss that made them both weak with yearning. Held so close that their clothes were the only barriers between them, he gathered her up into his arms and carried her to the bed where he could properly worship her.

He followed her onto the mattress, and then let his hand slide down her thigh. He bunched up the material of her nightdress until he had exposed her lower half to his hungry gaze. He slipped a hand between her legs and began a rhythmic motion until she was writhing beneath him. “Please… Remington…”

He closed his eyes and relished the sound of her impassioned plea on her lips. He rewarded her by increasing his pace until she was coming apart in his arms. The sweet nectar of her core coated his fingers, drenching him with her desire.

He was far from through pleasuring her, even when the orgasm had subsided. He removed her gown in one swiftmovement that bared her glorious body to full view. His cock thrummed painfully in his trousers, but this night wasn’t about his pleasure, although it would come eventually. He wanted to show Isadora that she was worthy, not only of love, but of being loved.

This was just the beginning of a new lifetime together.
