Emmett gives me a slow smile. “I know.”

I’d be jealous, but I’ve got a keeper, too.

Chapter Sixteen

Fiona

“Hey.”Bexleyhandsmea glass of champagne with a concerned smile. “I haven’t seen you all day.”

Our suite smells of a mix of perfumes, hair products, and shower gel. Bexley, Rachel, and Shae are joining us for sushi and champagne before we head out for girls’ night.

“I’ve been a little slow today.” I push away the thoughts of Mase slowly kissing his way down— “I slept. For a while,” I say awkwardly, conscious of Chrissa watching me.

“Did something happen with you and Mase last night?” Bexley asks in a low voice.

Discreetly, I turn the flower ring into my palm. “No. Why?”

“You seem…different…”

Because I had sex! Twice. Also, I got married.

But I don’t say anything about either of those momentous events. And Bexley knows me better than almost anyone, but she can’t read my mind. Right?

I’m the same as always—same mass of unruly curls that I’ve left loose and unstraightened tonight; same MAC lipstick, but I’ve left the red behind and gone for a glossy, plummy pink. Maybe it’s because I’m not wearing a dress for once—I went with my black skinny jeans and black bodysuit, which I’ve never worn before.

So maybe I look a little different. Sexier. At least, that’s the plan.

I don’t know what is planned for tonight but I’m sure it will involve Mase at some time and I want to look my best for him.

How the heck is he supposed to get me out of the bodysuit? The dress was difficult enough for him!

“I’m fine,” I tell her, trying to hide my smile. I take a sip of the champagne, realizing I’ll never be able to drink the stuff without thinking of Mase. “Same me.”

Bexley continues to study me as I take a seat on the navy wing chair. “Uh-huh.”

“I didn’t hear you get in last night,” Demi says, perched on the arm of the love seat across from me. I had no idea she had been listening. Glued at the hip to Chrissa, I thought she was part of the discussion on the other side of the room. “Must have been pretty late. Or early.”

“Early. Not long after you guys,” I say quickly. “I’m pretty quiet.”

Not only is Demi listening, but Shae and Rachel bring a plate of California rolls and plunk on the love seat with Demi, all focused on me, like I’m an animal at the zoo.

The skin on the back of my neck prickles and I fight to keep my breathing regular under their studying gaze. I’ve spent the night with Mase Stirling, even though none of them would be able to imagine what really happened.

I still don’t believe what happened.

Biba joins us. “You must be. I’m not a sound sleeper. I heard you come in this morning.” She studies me with as much intensity as Bexley and I now know what a cornered cat feels like.

“I got up early, went for a walk,” I say, struggling to keep my voice calm and casual. They don’t know. No one knows.“Trying to absorb the feel of Las Vegas, you know.”

Behind Biba, Chrissa gives me a tight-lipped smile.

Bexley tops up glasses, and I keep my focus on the bubbles in the wine, wondering if they inspired Mase to name his club Bubbles. “I thought you hated Las Vegas.”

“I don’t mind it now,” I tell her.

“Did you get home okay? I really didn’t want to leave you—don’t leave your wing woman behind, and all that.”

“Especially when you’re leaving them with Mase,” Shae adds.
