I don’t really know what being in love means, or what the potentially far-reaching consequences are going to be, but I do know I like myself better when I’m with Fiona. I like how I laugh and how I talk and how I can’t keep my eyes off her.

I don’t know for sure that’s love, but I like it. And I’d like it to be love.

Fiona pushes her backside against me, and the seductive sway drives me crazy. “You shouldn’t do that,” I husk against her neck.

“I’m just dancing,” she throws over her shoulder.

“You’re teasing me. All you are is a tease.”

“You really think I’m just a tease?” There’s such promise in her blue eyes that I grind my teeth at the memory of telling Tad he can crash in my room.

Winston and Rafe are long gone, running like dogs with a bone after the first woman who smiled at them, but Tad is moving happily along the dance floor with Demi and Chrissa. I can’t exactly call what he’s doingdancingbut he does look like he’s enjoying himself. The three of them are garnering a fair amount of attention.

I could get him to switch rooms with Fiona… He could go back with Demi and Chrissa and Fee could come back with me and—

And everyone would know.

Because of the warnings Grayson gave me, I suspect neither he nor Bexley will appreciate me holing up in my hotel room with Fiona tonight. It might be better to tell him we got married.

Or it might blow up in my face.

We’ll keep it quiet tonight. But that doesn’t mean Fiona is going to sleep without me tonight.

I’ll figure something out. I don’t hold the Twins record for stolen bases for nothing. After all, the nickname is Mase Ace for many reasons.

“I can’t wait to find out,” I tell Fiona with a mischievous smile of my own.

I keep looking over my shoulder to see if Bexley and Grayson suspect anything, but they’re so wrapped up in each other that they wouldn’t notice if the club suddenly exploded around them. It was a good idea to meet the girls here.

It was a good idea to come to Vegas.

Because if I wasn’t struck with the idea to throw Grayson an engagement party, I wouldn’t have gotten to know Fiona. I’d eventually have met her, maybe at the wedding, but things would have progressed slowly. There would have been texts and a first date, and maybe I would have gotten lucky with a kiss on the cheek.

Fiona looks like she’d be a cheek kisser for the first date.

Instead, I got the girl, all in one night. Now I just have to figure out how to keep her.

Everyone leaves the club together this time. There’s no chance of Fiona and me sneaking off again, because a tipsy Bexley wants her girls closer than Grayson as we head to the door.

Maybe it’s a safety-in-numbers thing because we cross Arabella and a very irritable-looking Emelia on the way out. Shae waves happily but Fiona studiously ignores her. Rachel sticks out her tongue.

It takes everything I have not to grab Fiona’s hand as we walk down the street, my ears buzzing from the loud music. If I give her one ounce of preferential treatment, someone will see, and Bexley will freak out before we even get back to the hotel.

Speaking of the hotel…

“Hey, Mase, thanks for letting me crash at your place tonight,” Tad says. I love the guy like a brother, but right now, I really wish I hadn’t been so generous.

But I can’t tell him that. Or the reason I’d really like an empty room tonight. “No, worries, bro. Glad you could join in the fun.”

“This has been great.” He lowers his voice. “I’ve never thought much of your baseball buddies before.”

“Dude!” I laugh.

“Do you blame me? I’m not exactly the sports type.”

No, Tad stuck to academics while I pursued sports. We still stayed close and grew closer as we got older and realized, no matter what we did, it was nice to always know there was one person who had your back.

That was Tad for me.
