He’s got my back, but he’s also doing a great job of blocking me tonight. Not that he knows anything about it.

“But these guys are nice.” Tad gestures to Grayson and Emmett.

“Yeah. They are. Too good for me.”

“Why do you say that?” Tad wants to know.

“Yes, Mase. Why do you say that?” I hadn’t realized Fiona had drifted close enough to overhear. When I look at her, I get the odd sensation that she is one of the few people who have complete faith in me.

I can’t let her get hurt.

I shrug my reply, and Demi pulls Tad back to her.

The group trails out along the sidewalk as we head back to the hotel, pausing for selfies, taking pictures of Vegas landmarks. Fiona has her phone in her hand, but I can’t help but notice most of her pictures are of me.

I wait to see if anyone suggests another stop—I’m not about to. The only thing I want is to head back to a comfortable bed, preferably with Fiona.

“I have a little problem,” I say to her in a low voice when the hotel is in view.

“You married me. I think that could be referred to as a big problem,” she replies, trying to joke.

“Never. You’ll never be a problem for me,” I promise and she smiles, but I can tell she’s unsure, either because of me or the situation in general. I don’t blame her.

But that’s tomorrow’s problem.

“So, I told Tad he can crash in my room. I actually mentioned it to Winston as well, but I have no idea what happened to Win, so he might already be there. I hope not,” I finish, struck by a thought. “At least if he is, I hope he’s alone.”

“You think—oh.”

“Which leads me to my conundrum.”

“That sounds serious.”

“Yes, well, it is. To me, at least. See, I’d really like you to crash in my room again tonight, but I have a feeling three might be a crowd.”

“Or four. Or maybe five.”

“It better not be five,” I say grimly.

“So you were hoping you and I…” she trails off with a gleam in her eyes, one that I’m beginning to recognize. And like the look of.

“What’s it called? Marital rights?”

“That is such a thing.”

“And since we’re newly married—”

“Who’s newly married?” Demi asks, popping up out of nowhere on the other side of Fiona.

I point to Grayson and Bexley, heart thundering from the close call. “They will be soon.”

“And maybe them,” Fiona adds, gesturing to Emmett and Shae.

“Ooh, do you think so?”

“Maybe,” I say, winking at Fiona.

“We’re all going to stop at the casino before we go back to the suite,” Demi explains. “Tad thinks he can count cards and make us some money.”
