“Jesus, guys, couldn’t you at least wait until the end of the wedding like everyone else,” a voice interrupted from the barn door.

Luke and I jumped in surprise and Nate strolled in looking pretty happy with himself for catching us.

“I guess not.” Luke grinned, taking my hand in his.

“Glad to see you guys have sorted your shit out. Now, can you please come back to the reception? Everyone is asking for Nat to sing.”

Luke groaned, and I nudged him. “Of course, but only if Luke joins me.”

“Done,” Nate answered, and Luke shook his head with a chuckle.

I stepped towards the barn door to leave, but Luke pulled me back.

“Nate, can you just give us a few more minutes?”

My brother looked from Luke, to me and back again. “Sure. If that’s all it takes.” He winked at him on his way out of the barn.

Luke rolled his eyes back to me. “Your brother is a dick.”

“And you’re just learning this now?”

He grabbed my waist and brought our bodies back together. “Listen, last night, you said you wouldn’t blame me for leaving. Why would you say that?”

My face fell at the unwelcome reminder.

“Blue…”

I lowered my eyes. “Because I may not be able to give you everything you want.”

“I don’t understand.” He pushed my chin back up to meet his mystified gaze.

I swallowed back my fear. “A family.”

Luke pressed his forehead against mine. “Blue, you are my family. You’re all I’ve ever wanted,” he said, running his hand down my hair. “I have you now and I’m never letting you go again.”

I nodded happily as a tear ran down my cheek. Luke kissed it away.

“And if we can’t have babies, well, we’ll adopt. Or get puppies. Lots and lots of puppies,” he jested and tucked one of my stray curls behind my ear.

I nudged him away with a laugh, and a giant grin spread across his face.

We split apart as soon as we returned to the reception. Luke headed towards the stage to warm up his guitar and I went to get a drink of water, to calm my beating heart. Our eyes met across the room and we gave each other knowing smiles.

The glowing bride beamed as she wandered over. “Nate told me.”

My cheeks heated up, and my mouth curved into a smile.

She threw her arms around me and I hugged her back.

“Thanks, Mands,” I sighed, happily. “Now go find your husband, and get yourselves on that dance floor.”

Amanda skipped away, already barefoot, to find Nate. I knew she wouldn’t last long in those heels.

I made my way up onto the stage and grabbed the microphone, sending Luke a quick wink, before turning to the crowd.

“Welcome, everyone!” I shouted, and was met by cheers and whistles.
