He groaned. “Mel.”

My heart dipped at the mention of her name. “Oh…you can’t block her?”

“She’s a friend, Jos.” He ran his hand through his hair. “I can’t shut her out.”

I pressed my lips together and nodded.

When his phone buzzed a third time, I glanced down to see a selfie of Melanie Warren entirely top-less. Grayson snatched up his phone as quick as my eyebrows rose.

“Gray! Is that what she’s been sending you?! I bet you don’t want to shut that out.”

Grayson deleted the photo, and looked up at me, exasperated. “She’s just trying to get my attention.”

I snorted. “Well she certainly has mine.”

“If I respond in any way, she’ll take it as encouragement.”

I held in my laughter. “Riiight. Well then…” I picked up my phone and angled its lens down my top.

Grayson stilled. “What are you doing?”

“Well, if you have naked photos of your ex, I figure it’s only fair mine does too.”

I pretended to take a photo and scrolled down my contact list. “Now, where is Pete’s number?”

Grayson’s eyes grew huge. “Don’t you dare.”

He climbed over his laptop and straddled my legs, trying to snatch my phone away as I giggled uncontrollably. He wrestled it out of my fingers and dropped it out of reach.

Laid over me, he watched my face as my laughter melted into a chuckle. “You drive me crazy, you know that?”

My mouth curved into a smile as I stared into his swirling green eyes, just inches above mine. “Show me,” I whispered, pressing my pelvis into his. A low growl rumbled deep within his chest, and he wiped the knowing smirk off my face with his soft lips.

Adam arrived back the day of the office Christmas party, leaving Grayson only one week to tell him about our relationship. We finished the work day early and celebrated with champagne and nibbles in the conference room, which Linda had elaborately decorated for the evening.

Moving in different circles to avoid any romantic slipups, Grayson charmed his way through the staff, looking happier than ever. Christmas was apparently his favourite time of year and it showed. Occasionally his eyes would graze over mine and twinkle, causing my heart to flutter every time.

My cheeks warmed as I sipped my champagne, quietly observing everyone mingle. We finally felt like a family again.

“It’s great to see you smiling Josie,” Adam said, appearing at my side. He had been eyeing me curiously throughout the night, making me wonder if his brother had finally spoken to him but neglected to fill me in.

“Well, ‘tis the season.” I lifted my champagne glass, still grinning.

He chuckled. “My brother is a sucker for Christmas too.”

“I’ve noticed,” I said, watching Grayson hand out gifts to all the employees from a giant Santa sack.

“See, we’re not all bad.”

I lifted the glass to my mouth and took a sip. “No, apparently not.” As much as I was enjoying myself, I couldn’t wait for the party to end; Grayson was taking me out on our first official date afterwards and I was beyond excited.

Grayson called over to Adam. “Can you go to my office and grab the rest of the gifts?”

Adam nodded and turned to me on his way out. “Would you mind giving me a hand?”

“Sure,” I replied, placing my glass down on the table amongst the array of festive food platters.
