“He said plenty, you should have heard him. He was so proud of himself. I was out of it, all I have are flashbacks. He must have spiked my drink. Evvy, I don’t even know that we didn’t…” She sobs into her hands and I take one of my hands off the wheel to comfort her.

“You're gonna be okay, we’ll find Raoul and we’ll get answers,” I assure her, reminding myself to breathe. I can’t even think about him hurting Raoul. This is all my fault, he should have Niko with him.

“I remember him speaking about a big development that's happening out at Skid Row, the buildings are being demolished.” She clicks her fingers when something suddenly falls into place.

“That's great, so all we have to do is search up some development plans.”

Kendra quickly searches the dash for her phone and leans through the seats to check the back seat.

“Here,” I toss her mine, and she holds it up in front of me so my face unlocks it as I keep driving toward the club in case we fail to get a lead.

“Here!” she yells excitedly. “There's a new mall being constructed. Work starts on the twenty-fifth of this month. That's this Monday.”

“Do you think that could be it?” I look across at her hopefully.

“We won’t know until we try it out.”

“Navigate.” I grip the steering wheel in my sweaty palms and head for Skid Row.

“I’ll send the details to that Niko guy, do you have his number stored?” she asks.

“Yeah, it’s in my contacts, that’s a good idea.”

“I just hope we’re in time to save your man.” She smiles back at me, and this time I don’t even argue with her. Because Raoul is mine, and I refuse to let anyone take him away from me.
