“That was amazing. I could do with one of those once a week,” she jokes. “How was yours?”

“Really good. I think I fell asleep,” I say with a chuckle.

“Are the others not out yet?”

I shake my head. “I don’t think so, unless they’re in the pool.”

“I’m glad we’ve got a few minutes alone,” she says. “I wanted to tell you how happy I am for you and Seb. He was a little lost before he met you.”

“He was?” I ask, hoping she might tell me something I don’t know.

She nods. “I’m sure he’s told you what was going on with him now that you’re together, but I’ve never seen him happier than he is now.”

I don’t want to tell her he hasn’t opened up to me. Not when I don’t know the reasons.

“I think I probably owe you a thank-you. He told me he spoke to you about us and that you gave him some great advice.”

She smiles. “I didn’t tell him anything he didn’t already know, Taylor. He just needed pointing in the right direction. He’d have come to the same conclusion on his own.”

“That’s what he said, but either way, I’m glad he was able to talk things through with you. I know you two are good friends.”

“Seb’s the best.”

“Yeah, he is.”

She disappears to use the bathroom, and I sigh. As grateful as I am that he was able to open up to her, I want him to do the same with me. I know Paisley thinks I should talk to him about it, but I guess a part of me is nervous about what he’ll say if I do. Clearly, something’s holding him back. Maybe it’s something he knows I won’t want to hear.

The rest of the day is spent talking, laughing, and experiencing almost every treatment the spa has to offer. We’ve all been in the salon and had our hair and makeup done for tonight; everyone except Bree. She and Leo aren’t coming to Eden. They need to pick the children up from Bree’s parents, so she’s going home. When we do get back to my place, all we need to do is get changed, but I’m so relaxed by the time we’re ready to leave, going straight to sleep seems more appealing than drinks in Eden. I’m sure I’ll wake up when I’m dressed for a night out and have a glass of wine in my hand.

CHAPTERTHIRTY-SEVEN

Seb

After no one catches anything at the lake, we pack up and head to Eden earlier than planned. Despite the fishing being a bust, we’ve spent the day laughing and catching up, and it’s been good to just relax and spend time with everyone. It’s definitely something we need to do more often.

It’s late afternoon when we walk into Eden, and it’s starting to get busy already. I booked a band for tonight, so I’m expecting it to be packed later. I asked Ryder to reserve us two tables as I knew the girls wouldn’t want to stand all night, and I notice he’s saved us two by the stage where the band will be.

“Drinks?” Ryder shouts from behind the bar. I raise my hand in a wave and make my way over to him. “Beer?” he asks, and everyone nods. “How was the fishing?” he asks as he places five beers in front of us.

“None were biting today,” Nash says as he grabs a bottle and swallows down a mouthful.

“What? None of you caughtanything?”

“Nope. That’s why we’re here early. We gave up,” Cade says, reaching past me and picking up a beer.

“Are the girls back yet?” I ask, knowing they were all planning to come back to Taylor’s place after the spa to get changed for tonight.

“No. I haven’t seen them.” He grins. “Eager to see someone?”

“Fuck off, Ryder,” I tell him, a smile pulling on my lips. I pick up my beer and move away from the bar, letting the others pick up their drinks.

“I don’t want to say I told you so,” he shouts after me. “But…”

I flick him the V over my shoulder, and I can hear him laughing as I walk away.

“Asshole,” I mutter.

“How’s it going with you and Taylor?” Wyatt asks as he catches up with me at one of the tables Ryder reserved.
