“It’s good, Wyatt. Really good,” I tell him as we sit down.

He smiles. “Another Brookes brother in love.” He bumps my shoulder. “I think you might want to hold off proposing or getting pregnant just yet. I don’t think Mom could take the excitement.”

Nash told us at the lake that he and Paisley are trying for a baby. We’re sworn to secrecy, though. Apparently, they decided not to tell anyone they were trying in case things didn’t happen as quickly as they hoped; although, knowing Paisley, I’m sure she will have told Taylor at least.

My eyes widen at Wyatt’s comment. “I don’t think we’re quite ready for either of those things, Wyatt.”

“You do love her, though, right?” Nash says, overhearing our conversation.

A cold sweat breaks out on the back of my neck as I glance around the table and all eyes are on me. I drag my hand through my hair and blow out a breath.

“Yes, but—”

“I knew it,” Nash exclaims, banging his hand down on the table.

I groan internally. “I haven’t told her yet, so no telling Paisley.”

“Why the hell haven’t you told her?” Wyatt asks.

“I’ve never felt this way before. I don’t want to fuck it up.”

Wyatt’s eyes widen, and I know he’s asking about my feelings for Sophie. I subtly shake my head, answering his silent question with a silent answer. I thought I’d been in love with Sophie, and maybe I had, but what I feel for Taylor is so much more intense.

“You’re not going to fuck it up,” Nash says. “She loves you too. Anyone can see that.”

I nod, knowing he’s right. Although she told me she loved me a few weeks ago, I know without her saying the words. I can feel it every time we’re together. I hope she knows how I feel by my actions. I hope that’s enough until I have the balls to actually say the words.

About an hour later, my phone vibrates in my pocket. Reaching for it, I smile when it’s a message from Taylor.

Taylor: Hey, we’re heading back to my apartment now to get ready for tonight. Can’t wait to see you.

“That’s Taylor, right?” Nash asks.

I look up from the phone. “Yes. How did you know?”

“The dreamy-ass look on your face.”

Everyone around the table erupts into laughter and I roll my eyes. “Like you don’t have adreamy-asslook on your face every time Paisley’s around.”

He waves off my comment and takes a pull of his beer. “What did she say?”

“That the girls are on their way here.”

I lower my eyes to my phone and type out a reply to Taylor.

Me: We’re already in Eden. Fishing was a bust. Stop and say hi before you go up. I can’t wait to see you either.

Taylor: Okay. Be there in five.

Less than five minutes later, the girls arrive. I stand when I see Taylor, my eyes sweeping over her skin-tight yoga pants and tank. Her long blonde hair is curled in waves over her shoulders and there’s something on her eyes that makes them pop. She looks beautiful. Reaching for her, I wrap my arms around her waist and pull her gently against my chest.

“You look hot,” I mumble into her hair.

She laughs. “I’m wearing yoga pants.”

I lean back and smile. “Baby, you’d look hot in a trash bag.”

Her cheeks flush and she presses her lips to mine. “You’re looking pretty hot yourself,” she says when she pulls out of the kiss.
