“I missed you too, baby.”

I want to talk to her more, but Ashlyn and Sophie come out of the bedroom.

“Did I hear the wordwine?” Ashlyn asks.

Taylor pulls her hands from mine and reaches around me for the corkscrew. “You did. Red or white?”

“Red, please.”

I take the corkscrew from Taylor’s hand and grab the bottle of red wine. “I’ll open it.”

It’s only when she steps away from me that I notice what she’s wearing. A pale pink strapless dress that hugs her body in all the right places and falls mid-thigh, putting her toned and tanned legs on display.

Putting the corkscrew and wine back on the countertop, I reach for her. “The wine will have to wait, Ash,” I say as I circle my arms around Taylor’s waist and pull her against my chest.

She smiles, and I breathe a silent sigh of relief that, this time, the smile does reach her eyes. Maybe she really is tired and it’s nothing more.

“What are you doing?” She giggles as her arms wind around my neck.

“Telling you how incredible you look. You take my breath away, baby.”

Her cheeks flush pink and she drops her forehead onto my chest.

“Put her down and open the wine,” Ash groans. “You’ll have her all to yourself later. Right now, we’ve got some drinking to do, and you boys are already ahead as you got here earlier than us.”

I chuckle and brush my lips on Taylor’s head before stepping out of the embrace. “I wasn’t aware it was a competition,” I tell Ash as I quickly open the wine and pour her a glass.

She doesn’t answer and instead takes her drink back into the bedroom. Sophie laughs and picks up the can of soda I brought up for her.

“I hope that’s okay,” I tell her, gesturing to the soda.

“It’s fine. Thanks, Seb.” She looks from me to Taylor and smiles. “I’ll leave you two alone.”

She turns and disappears back into the bedroom where I can hear the chatter and laughter of the others.

“I should go and let you all finish getting ready.”

“Okay. We won’t be long. Ash is itching to get into the bar.”

I laugh. “Sounds like Ash.”

I lean down and kiss her. I’m going to tell her I love her tonight. I’m not afraid anymore. She’s not going to hurt me, and I know for sure I’m not going to hurt her. She means everything to me and it’s about time she knew it.

CHAPTERTHIRTY-EIGHT

Taylor

Iknow Seb noticed I was quiet when he brought the drinks up earlier, and I know he’s going to want to know why when we’re alone later. Pushing down my apprehension at having to tell him, I follow the girls down the steps of my apartment and into Eden. I want to enjoy tonight and not worry about it. I’m sure I’m overthinking things anyway, and when I talk to him, he’ll open up and everything will be fine.

Seb gets a round of drinks when we arrive, and after toasting Cade and Sophie and Nash and Paisley, Tessa and Henry decide to call it a night. After a round of goodbyes, they head out.

“Who wants to dance?” Ash shouts, standing up and drinking what’s left of her drink before placing the empty glass on the table.

“Me!” Ivy says, standing with her.

“I’ll come too,” I say, pressing a kiss on Seb’s cheek before standing and going to where Ash and Ivy are waiting. “Sophie?” I ask. “You coming?”

“I think I’ll sit this one out,” she says, her hand resting on her stomach.
