“Okay. You coming, Pais?”

“Yep.”

Seb stands to let Paisley out and makes his way to over to me. Slipping his arm around my waist, he tugs me against his side.

“Stay where I can see you,” he whispers in my ear.

I wrap my arms around his neck. “Why? Don’t you trust me?”

He smiles. “Of course I trust you, baby, but you look hot, and I don’t want anyone hitting on you.”

I roll my eyes. “No one is going to hit on me.”

“You have no idea how beautiful you are, do you?”

Before I can answer him, Ash pulls on my arm.

“Put her down, Seb. It’s girl time.”

He chuckles and releases his hold on me. “Stay where I can see you,” he says again.

“Yeah, yeah, we know,” Ash says, pulling me away and toward the dance floor. I giggle and raise my hand in a wave to Seb, who’s watching with a smile on his face.

“I guess as Seb’s girlfriend, you get a taste of the Brookeses’ over-protectiveness. Thankfully for you, it’s only one of them. I get all four!” Ash says.

“I quite like it when he’s like that,” I admit.

“I’m the same with Nash,” Paisley says. “I love it when he goes all caveman on me.”

“Urgh, that’s too much information, Paisley,” Ash says, screwing up her nose. “When a guy who isn’t your brother does it, it’s hot. When it’s all four of your brothers, it’s just annoying.”

“I guess.” I take her arm. “Let’s dance.”

We spend the next half an hour dancing. There’s a band playing tonight and they’re good. They’re playing songs we know and I’m loving singing along badly to the lyrics. Paisley went back to Nash about ten minutes ago when her feet started to ache. As much as I want to stay and keep dancing, the balls of my feet are burning, and I need a drink. I gesture to Ash and Ivy that I’m going to sit down, and they nod, opting to stay dancing. When I get back to the table, Seb and Paisley aren’t there.

“Where are Seb and Paisley?” I ask as I sit down and pick up my drink, swallowing a mouthful.

“Seb went to his office to check on something,” Nash says. “Paisley’s in the bathroom.”

I nod. “I’ll just go and see if he’s okay.”

“You do that,” Nash says, laughing.

I leave him chuckling as I make my way through Eden. Reaching inside my purse, I pull out the fob that’ll get me through the security door and close it behind me when I’m on the other side. The noise of the bar used to permeate through here, but since Seb installed the door, it’s a lot quieter. When I reach Seb’s office, the door is open slightly, and I’m about to walk in when I hear Paisley’s voice.

“You have to tell her, Seb. You know what happened with her ex, right?”

I step closer, wondering what Paisley means.

He sighs. “Yeah, the jackass left her for his ex.”

“She thinks because you keep shutting her down when she asks about your past, it’s because you’re still hung up onyourex.”

“Fuck, Paisley. There is no ex.”

“I know that, but she doesn’t.

“I can’t keep lying to her. She’s my best friend. She loves you, Seb. I know you don’t want anyone to know about Sophie, but Taylor isn’tanyone, she’s your girlfriend and she needs to know it was Sophie who broke your heart.”
