Her face, which is clouded in anger, softens at my words. She opens her mouth to say something, then closes it.

“Tay,” I prompt when she doesn’t answer.

“Okay, okay. Maybe I did think that, but you don’t owe me anything. You made it clear what last night was. I’m the idiot for feeling hurt.”

“No. You aren’t.”

“Yes, Seb. I am.” She shakes her head. “I should get back to Paisley. She’s going to have a million questions.”

I chuckle. “We’re good though, yeah?”

She nods. “We’re good. Thanks again for last night.” I grin and she rolls her eyes. “I mean getting that guy off me and staying here.”

“Oh, right. Yeah, that.”

She smacks my chest. “I’ll leave you to get dressed.”

“Do you want a ride to the station? I need to go home and shower, then I was going to head there.”

“I think I might walk. Get some fresh air.”

“Okay. I might see you later, then?”

“Yeah. You might.”

She hesitates before going up on her tiptoes and brushing a kiss on my cheek. Then she turns and walks out of the bedroom, closing the door behind her. I frown as I stare at the closed door. She says we’re okay, but I’m not so sure. Despite reassuring her last night that things wouldn’t be weird between us, I’m not convinced I was right.

CHAPTERFOURTEEN

Taylor

Ileave Seb to get dressed and go back into the living room. Paisley greets me with wide eyes.

“You slept with Seb?” she says excitedly. “Iknewyou liked him.”

“Shhh,” I tell her, glancing back to the bedroom door. “Lower your voice.”

She frowns. “Why? He knows I know. He was the one who told me.”

“He doesn’t know I like him,” I mumble.

She laughs. “You slept with him, Tay. I think he’s got a pretty good idea you like him.”

I shrug off her comment. “It was just sex. It won’t be happening again.”

“What? Why?”

“Because he doesn’t want it to happen again.”

“Well, what do you want?”

“Does it matter?”

“Of course it matters.”

Before I can reply, the bedroom door opens and Seb walks out.

“I’ll see you later, Paisley. You’re working tonight, right?” he says, crossing the room and making for the door. She nods and I stand, walking to the door to see him out. “If you change your mind about a ride to the station, text me.”
