“Is everything okay?” she whispers back. I shrug.

“I’m not there. Are you okay?” I ask, wondering what’s going on.

He sighs down the phone. “I got into an argument with Paisley. I stormed out and didn’t know where to go. I ended up at your place.”

“Fuck. I’ll be right there.”

“Where are you?”

“It doesn’t matter. I’ll be five minutes.” I end the call and turn to Taylor.

“I heard,” she says before I can say anything. “Can you drop me at their place on the way?”

“Of course.”

She climbs off the bed and heads to the bathroom. “Do you know what they were arguing about?” she shouts.

“No, but I can guess.”

She pokes her head around the bathroom door, her toothbrush in her hand. “What do you mean?” she asks.

“Something to do with Ash and that guy she was with last night. Do you know what’s going on with her?”

She sighs. “Yeah, I know.” I hold her gaze when she doesn’t elaborate.

“Should I be worried?”

“She’s just trying to work some stuff out. If she needs to tell you all, then she will.”

I frown, having no idea what she’s talking about. “Is she in trouble?”

“No.”

“This conversation isn’t reassuring me.”

“I’m sorry. I can’t say anymore. I’m not going to break her confidence.”

“That’s what Paisley said to Nash, and I think that’s what they’ve argued about.”

“Talk to him, Seb. This is their first Christmas together. They shouldn’t be arguing. Ash would hate that.”

“I’ll try.”

We get dressed and head downstairs and out the back of Eden to where my bike is parked. It’s only a two-minute ride to Nash’s place, and I pull up on the driveway to let Taylor off.

“Do you think you’ll be back before we need to be at your parents’ place?” she asks as she climbs off.

“Yes. They need to talk.”

“I hope they can work things out.”

“They will.”

I leave her on the driveway and, minutes later, pull into the underground parking garage at my apartment block. Nash’s truck is parked in my space, and I park in front of him.

“Hey,” I say as I turn off the engine and climb off the bike. “What’s going on?” We walk in silence to the elevator, and when we’re in the car and he still hasn’t said anything, I try again. “Nash?”

He sighs and closes his eyes. “Fuck! Ihatearguing with her.”
