I’m about to follow when I notice Chase on my left, fully geared up. “I need you here.”

Chase shakes his head, ignoring me. “I go where you go. Ziggy and Butch are manning ship. Darnel and Lloyd are heading over to help.”

He ends the conversation by sidestepping around me and walking toward Simone. She’s sobbing, the other women surround her, trying to comfort her, but she’s inconsolable.

He takes her face in his hands. “We’ll get her back, ya hear?”

To upset to answer, she bobs her head, and he slips outside.

Stella and Jim approach me. “Don’t you dare come back without her,” Stella threatens, her voice shaking.

Jim struggles to keep it together, but he’s doing it for his wife—a gentleman through and through. His voice chokes. “You bring her back safe.”

I grab them both in a tight hug before releasing them.

As I make my way out to the front yard, my men are already revving up the engines of the armored Yukons, ready to hit the road. The past week has been dry without any new accumulation of snowfall. The roads will be safe enough to travel at max speeds, faster than going by our bikes. Pueblo is nearly three hours away, but the way we drive, we can cut that time significantly. We have to if we have any hope of stopping Esteban from hitting the tarmac and rescuing Josephine.

Punk is dealing with local law enforcement at the hospital. He’s too tied up in red tape to join us. And we have to go now before Esteban is too far out of reach.

Desperate to give our ground control team backup, I called the local Pueblo Motorcycle club chapter, Hell’s Horsemen, to help our brothers. The rebel gang is all for getting their hands dirty—the 1% never bat an eye to this shit. Now that they know who’s been encroaching on their territory and pushing product, they want in on the action. It’s fuel for the fire. The conversation took less than three minutes to get them involved.

Ready for war, I pop in my earpiece and climb in the driver seat of one of our armored SUV—we need all the protection we can get. When the vehicles are full, I pull out onto the open road with my crew caravanning behind me. The SUV can’t go fast enough as I speed down the highway, heading south toward Pueblo. I’m aware of Gauge, Chase, and Tank in my vehicle, but my mind is focused on the mission, fueled by the furnace of anger coursing through my cells.

Twenty minutes out from Pueblo, Eagle reaches out over the comms. “We’re in position. Hell’s Horsemen are cooperating, but I don’t think we can hold them back much longer. They want to storm the property before Esteban arrives.”

“Tell them to hold. Charging in could get Jo killed,” I order.

The comms are silent a moment before Eagle comes back on. “I hear the chopper, Prez.”

Fucking hell!

Needing to be there now more than ever,I accelerate the Yukon forward. My brothers follow my lead. “Do everything you can to stop them from exiting the helicopter. Don’t let them get in that plane!”

“Visual on the chopper,” Eagle shouts. He yells in the background to the other men. “Get into position. Surround the perimeter.”

For the next several minutes I and my brothers remain quiet, listing to the action on the comms.

“THE BIRD HAS LANDED. I repeat. THE BIRD HAS LANDED,” Triple shouts over the comms.

No.We have to get there and stop this. He can’t take her away from me.

The SUV is already going well over a hundred miles per hour, but I give her more, pushing a hundred-twenty. Factoring in road conditions and weather are not even registering with me. The only thought I have is getting to Josephine.

“We’re moving in. Over.” Eagle says.

Seconds later, chaos breaks out over the comms. Shouting from all three of my men at once along with heavy gunfire.

“Status? Over.” Chase shouts down the line.

“The jet is making its way to the chopper to cover them while they escape the helicopter.” Stage says.

More gunfire and shouting from more men than just mine, possibly the Hell’s Horsemen.”

“Do you have a visual on Jo?” I ask gritting my teeth, my fingers gripping the steering wheel.

“Affirmative.” Stage answers. “Jo appears unconscious.”

Red clouds my vision. My heart is pumping so hard my skin is pulsing.
