“No, I’ll be fine. You stay here and think of me. When I get back, we’ll do something fun.” I smirk, pressing a kiss to his lips.
He shakes his head, towering over me as we stand toe-to-toe. “Don’t forget Colton is out there searching for you. You are not going alone.”
“Ace, I’m just going to Rachel’s. I was out today, and I was fine. I’m tired of being home locked away and afraid of my own shadow. I’ve lived this way long enough, and right now, I want to go and visit my daughter.” I wrap my arms around his waist. “Please, let me,” I beg, fluttering my eyelashes at him and poking out my bottom lip.
His shoulders slump in defeat. “Be safe, pretty thing. Call me as soon as you get there and once you’re on your way home.”
“I promise.” I stretch up on my tiptoes and press my lips against his.
Pulling away, I turn, and he smacks my ass when I begin walking out.

Twenty minutes later,I pull into Rachel’s driveway and park beside her car. The door opens when I get out and start walking up the walkway, and a smiling Olivia greets me.
“Aunty Lee! Look at my new party dress!” She spins, the white fabric flying out and spinning around her.
“Wow, it’s so pretty.” I lean down and kiss her forehead. She takes my hand and leads me into the house.
“Why didn’t you wear a party dress? We’re having a party.”
I raise my eyebrow in question. “A party?”
She nods. “Mommy’s boyfriend came to visit and wants to meet you so much.” My hand tightens around hers, and instantly I’m on high alert. A knot forms in my stomach. “Your mom’s boyfriend is here?”
Olivia nods. “He’s in the kitchen with Mommy.” She pulls her hand away, skipping into the back of the house where the kitchen is located.
Slowly, I follow behind her, following the sound of Rachel’s cheery voice.
Entering the kitchen, I see Rachel’s smiling face first. When she spots me, her smile only widens. “Don’t be mad, Lee. I know you said no visitors and not to give anyone our address, but I was missing Mike, and we can trust him.” My anxiety grows.
I turn the corner, step into the kitchen, and see the man in question. The man Rachel knows as Mike, but I know by a different name. I know his real name.
My heart drops into my stomach. The color drains from my face, and I freeze in place, staring into the sadistic eyes of the man who tormented me for years.
Colton.The “unknown” bastard who’s been taunting me for long enough.

“Lee,seeing you again in the flesh is great.” A nasty smile spreads across Colton’s paper-thin lips. I’m too stunned to speak.
“What do you mean?” Rachel asks, her attention toward the man she believes is Mike.
“Colton.” His name leaves my lips in a whisper, causing his nasty smile to widen. Rachel’s eyes widen in recognition of the name. She knows everything about Colton because I’ve told her everything. Including the fact he’s Olivia’s father. I called her and told her right after I was informed about Bill’s vasectomy, leaving him unable to father any more children.
With a quickness, Colton grabs Rachel, her back against his chest, one arm holding her throat while the other hand holds a gun he’s pressing against her head.
“Mommy! Mike, stop!” Olivia screams, her voice whimpering in fear. The scene in front of me causes me to jump out of my stupor and step into action. Quickly, I grab the little girl’s arm and pull her behind me, keeping her hidden behind my back.
“Glad I have your attention. Now, toss me your phone and keys,” Colton demands, moving his finger to the trigger.
Nodding, I do as he says. I remove my phone and keys from my pocket and toss them onto the counter. If I don’t, I don’t doubt he’ll pull the trigger. I’ve seen what he’s done to my dog and Cassie.
“Good. Now, sit down. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time, and it will be perfect.”
Right now, he has the upper hand because he has a gun at Rachel’s head. For now, I’ll do as he says to keep her and Olivia safe, but the moment I get the chance to take control, I will take it. I fucking refuse to let the bastard leave here alive.
