I want to puke. How can he say that here at the dinner table? I know no one else got the double meaning but I did.

“Richard, may I be excused?”

Richard’s eyes widen in shock that I’m talking to him. “Of course, Callum. Is everything okay?”

“I just don’t feel very good.” I rise from my seat, pushing it back in.

“I think you need to go to the doctor,” Richard states.

“Possibly.” I nod at the table. “Excuse me.”

I walk out of the dining area, finding the first bathroom to hide in.

I slowly creepthe bathroom door open, flinching when Heath jumps out in front of me. “How do you feel about getting back at our parents by fucking?”

“What?” Oh, gross. No, fuck no.

He leans in, mouth close to mine when Clint’s voice whips down the hallway. “Stop hitting on our sister.”

Heath groans. “Stepsister.”

Clint shakes his head as Noah appears behind him. “Afraid not. She’s Dad’s love child.”

Heath scoffs. “Yeah, right. You guys just want her to yourself.”

I’m in complete shock as I listen to them argue. Because he knows. Clint knows.

“She and I have the same eyes,” Clint argues.

“Coincidence,” Heath lashes out.

“And the birth certificate in Dad’s office with his name as the father?”

“It’s true. I’ve seen it,” Noah supplies.

Heath shakes his head. “Mom deserved better.”

Clint looks to me, face softening. “Hi, Callum.” Two simple words and I am ready to cry. “I’m Clint. Your older brother.” He pulls me in for a hug and out of shock I wrap my arms around him as he squeezes me.

Noah pulls me into him next. Rocking me back and forth in his warm embrace. “Hi, sweet Callum,” he whispers with the adoration of a doting brother.

He releases me and I quickly wipe away the stray tears. “You guys knew?” I ask softly.

Clint and Noah nod. “We’ve been keeping an eye on you.”

I go to speak, but Heath cuts me off. “We need to have a family meeting. Now. At home.”

Richard’s homeoffice isn’t cold and sterile like I imagined. It’s filled with plants and family photos. His trophies from childhood sports. Bookcases filled with war books and strategies. A limited edition ofWar and Peacein a glass case.

His desk it neat, pens in their holder, files and papers stacked on the corner. He has leather couches facing each other on opposite sides of the room, unlike Lincoln’s, whose couch faces his desk.

Richard folds his hands on the desk, looking a little uncomfortable as he stares at all of us. Clint and I are on one couch, Noah and Heath on the other. “What’s going on, kids?” Richard asks.

Clint opens his mouth to speak, but Heath jumps in first. “We have a sister?”
