"What?" I stared at her with confused eyes.

"Foster." She nodded over to where Foster was sitting on the couch in the living room, reading a paper.

"Um, okay," I said, frowning slightly.

"Girl, he's absolutely gorgeous. I cannot believe you're not all over him like white on rice."

"He's Rosalie's brother. I'm her best friend."

"And?" Molly said, shrugging. "What's that got to do with the price of tea?"

"I mean, it would just be awkward, you know?"

"So you don't want him? I could make a move?" she asked, a glint in her eyes.

"Molly!"

"What?" She started laughing.

"I mean, that's not what I'm saying. I'm—"

"Don't worry, girlfriend. I'm just joking. I would never make a move on him. I know you're into him, whether or not you want to admit it."

"I mean, I'm into him, but—"

"But nothing. So did I tell you that there's a job fair tomorrow?"

"There is? I didn't realize they had job fairs in New York City."

"Well, it's in Brooklyn. I guess a bunch of different companies have come together because they're having a hard time hiring people. And I figured maybe we could go."

"Sounds good," I said. "What sort of jobs?"

"Retail, customer service, that sort of thing." She shrugged. "I mean, I figure you’ve got to start somewhere, right?"

"Yeah. That's very true."

"Sometimes I wonder if I should become, like, an exotic dancer or something?"

I stared at her with wide eyes.

"What? Why?"

"Because they pay so much money. Only, I don't really have rhythm, and I would not want to lap dance for any old, crusty men. And let's be real, they're not all going to look like Richard Gere or Robert Redford."

"Too true. From what I know, it's usually really dirty men who go to strip clubs."

"Oh? How'd you know that?" she asked me.

"I mean, that's what I assume." I started laughing.

"What's so funny in the kitchen?" Foster called out.

"Oh, we were just talking about strip clubs," Molly responded. Foster's ears perk up.

"Oh?" He placed his newspaper down on the couch and then jumped up and headed toward the kitchen. "What about strip clubs?"

"I knew it would bring you to the kitchen," Molly said with a laugh.
