"Oh, but I was going to do the dishes now and..."

"The dishes can wait," I said, turning back to look at her.

She paused for a couple of seconds and looked at me. I started humming Chris Stapleton's "Tennessee Whiskey." She started laughing.

"What's so funny? Are you laughing at my singing voice?"

"No," she said, shaking her head. "I'm just laughing at the way you're moving your hips back and forth."

"I mean, isn't that what a good exotic dancer does?"

"Oh, so you're an exotic dancer now?" she said.

"Or I can just be a male stripper, or a Chippendale, or whatever you want to call me."

"Oh, Foster," she said, heading toward the living room. "We don't have to. I mean, it would be kind of awkward and..."

"I don't think it would be awkward. Was the other evening awkward for you?"

"I mean, it wasn't awkward as it was happening." She laughed. "It was awkward the next day when I remembered what happened."

"Oh, and what part of it was awkward for you?"

"Um, the fact that I was topless." She made a face. "And I was..."

"Are you going to say rubbing your breasts in my face?"

She blushed a deep red then.

"Oh my gosh, Foster!"

"What? I enjoyed it," I said softly.

"Foster!"

"What? It's just you and me here, Alice. We’re adults, right?"

"Yeah." She nodded.

"So we have sexual chemistry. We've always known we've had sexual chemistry."

"I know," she said, nodding.

"And we're both here, so we can have some fun."

"I know. I just..." She bit down on her lower lip. "It's just weird, you know?"

"Why?"

"Because you're Rosalie's brother, and she has no idea—"

"So?" I cut her off. "Did you have any idea that she made out with Oliver when we were younger?"

"Yeah, I did." She nodded. "Rosalie has no secrets from me. She tells me everything." She sighed. "Oh my gosh. I'm a horrible best friend."

"No, you're not."

"Yes, I am. There's so much she doesn't know. And I know it would absolutely break her heart."
