"You never told her?" I said softly.

"No," she said, shaking her head. "At first, I was embarrassed and scared and angry, and I didn't want her to be upset with me. And then the timing just never felt right, you know? Because I knew she'd want to know why I hadn't told her immediately. And I just didn't know how to tell her. And then, you know, there was us and..." She made a face. "It just was a lot."

"I know." I nodded. "It was a lot. And I'm sorry again, you know?"

"It wasn't your fault, Foster. In fact, if it wasn't for you..." She bit down on her lower lip, and I could tell she remembered that time.

"Come on now. Let's think of happier thoughts," I said, grabbing her hands and pulling her toward me. "Maybe we'll dance before you get your lap dance."

"Dance?" she said. "I don't think so."

"Okay. You know something, Alice?"

"No. What?"

"I think we should move this to the bedroom."

"What?" she said, raising an eyebrow.

"I mean, I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this, but I can still remember seeing my sister and Oliver on the couch, hooking up." I made a face. "And, well, I would rather we went to my room."

"But we're not going to hook up, right?" she asked.

"I mean, we'll do whatever we feel comfortable with."

She bit down on her lower lip.

"Why do I feel like we're crossing a line we shouldn't?"

"I don't know. Why do you feel like that?"

She stared at me for a couple of seconds and smiled.

"This better be one hell of a dance."

"It will be," I said.

I pulled her toward my bedroom and opened the door. I closed the door behind her after we walked in and plugged my iPhone into my Bose speaker.

"So let me see. What music should I dance to?"

"Um, I don't know." She shook her head. "What are you thinking?"

"How about..." I scrolled through my playlist. "Maybe not Oasis. Definitely not Machine Gun Kelly."

"Machine Gun Kelly!" She started laughing. "You listen to Machine Gun Kelly?"

"I do. Why? Is that embarrassing?"

"Just a little bit."

"I have some Drake."

"You listen to Drake?" She stared at me in shock.

"What? I know he's commercial, and he kind of sold out, but I can't lie. I still like his music."

"I like Drake, too," she said. "So where should I sit or stand or..."
