“I did.”

“And you’re with John?”

“I am.”

“Good,” he said sounding pleased. “How do you like it?”

“How do I like the most luxurious limo I’ve ever been in my life? I love it, and the bagel is delicious, and the coffee. How did he even know I like mochas?”

“Because you mentioned it to me.”

“I did?” I was frowning now.

“When you were at my house that morning, I was going to have a caramel macchiato, and you wanted to have a mocha.”

“Oh wow. I didn’t think you would remember that.”

“How could I forget that? Morning will be embedded in my brain for the rest of my life.” He laughed. “For both good and bad reasons.”

“Well, I mean, it’s not like it was my fault.”

“I know,” he said. “It was all my fault.”

“Well, I’m glad you recognize that, Mr. Covington.”

“You just called me Travis. Stick with Travis.”

“Well, I’m in the limo coming to work, so I would say that this is now a business call as opposed to personal.”

“Until you get into the office, it’s still personal,” he said.

I sighed. “Okay. Well, to what do I owe the pleasure of this call?”

“Oh, so it’s a pleasure, is it?”

“You know what I mean. I’m just being polite.”

“I didn’t think you had it in you, Molly.”

“I can be polite when I want to, especially when I’m eating delicious bagels with lox and cream cheese and drinking the most delicious mocha I’ve ever had in my life. I need to know where he got this mocha because I need to become best friends with the barista so they can tell me exactly what they’re using so I can make it at home every day.”

“I think we can find that out,” he said, sounding happy. “Now, did you pack your stuff?”

“Did I pack what stuff?” I was confused now.

“For our trip.”

“No, I was going to pack tonight. We don’t leave until tomorrow.”

“Yes, we were going to leave tomorrow, but now we’re leaving today.”

“What? You didn’t tell me. I don’t have anything.”

“Why did you think you were coming to the office early?”

“I don’t know why. You’re the one who said we had work to do and… Oh my gosh, Travis, why didn’t you tell me last night when you called me at midnight and woke me up?”

“I didn’t wake you up.” He chuckled. “You weren’t asleep.”
