“Yeah?”

“Are you waiting for Mr. Right as well?” I stared at him and swallowed hard. I didn’t really know how to answer that question. How did you have a conversation about dating with your boss who you were also hooking up with, but was not a potential suitor?

“I mean, isn’t every single woman looking and waiting for Mr. Right?” I said, smiling softly.

“That’s a cop-out. Are you waiting?”

“Sure,” I said, my eyes moving quickly to the corner of the room and then back to his face.

“So what makes Mr. Right, Mr. Right for you?”

“What makes Mr. Right, Mr. Right? What do you mean?”

“I mean, what qualities would he have to have to be Mr. Right?”

“Oh. I don’t know, handsome, funny, charismatic, passionate, loyal, faithful, sweet, good kisser.”

“You’re not asking for much, are you?”

“Well, you know.” I laughed. “He is Mr. Right.”

“Sure. I guess I’m Mr. Right Now, huh?”

“I guess so,” I said. Though I laughed, I wasn’t really feeling it was a humorous conversation. “So what about you?” I said quickly and lightly.

“What about me?”

“What do you look for?”

“I’m not looking for a Mr. Right,” he said, chuckling.

“You know what I mean. In a Miss Right or Mrs. Right.”

“I don’t really know.” He shook his head. “I’ve never really thought about it.”

“You’ve never thought about what you’re looking for in a woman?”

“No. Maybe because I’m not really looking,” he said, shrugging. “It’s different for men, you know.”

“What do you mean it’s different for men?”

“I mean, that’s not something we really think about.”

“So, what, you don’t plan on ever getting married, or you’re against it, or…?”

“I didn’t say that.” He shook his head. “It’s not been a primary goal of mine. Maybe one day I’ll meet someone, and we’ll have some kids.” He shrugged. “If we do, cool. If we don’t, no hair off my back.”

“I guess you’re fine living the bachelor lifestyle, huh?”

“It has its perks. I get to date beautiful women. I get to sleep with them. I get to have fun. I get to focus on my business. I don’t have too many stresses. I lead a very chaotic life. I don’t know when I’m going to be in the country. I don’t know when I’m going to have to jet off. That’s a hard life when you have a family to think about. I don’t want to be a selfish husband or a selfish father, you know?”

I nodded. “Sure. That makes sense.”

“And at this point in my life, well, I’m not ready to make any sacrifices. That’s why I don’t really date.”

“You don’t date?” I laughed out loud then.

“I’m not saying I’m a monk. I’m not saying I’m not sleeping with anyone.” He stared at me and grinned. “Case in point.”
