“Because those words are fitting for them––.”

“But not me?” He smiles like a cocky prick.

“No beauty, not you.” I deflate, that stings. As I said before “Those three words are so overused and don’t even come close to how…I feel for you.” Tears leak from the corners of my eyes, he brushes them away with his thumbs, hearing the vulnerability in his voice has them flowing continuously. “I was a dick earlier, but I was also in shock, Bex knew instantly the moment he shifted in front of you that you were our mate, it just took me a bit longer to catch on than either of you would have liked. These past six weeks have been hell for me baby, Sky isn’t just my beta, she is my best friend and so much more. I know this may hurt you and I don’t mean for it to, but you are Bex’s mate through and through. But my human half, Sky is my soulmate.” I recoil and try to pull away from him, but he doesn’t let me. “Please let me explain before you runaway.” I reluctantly nod, like I said, sucker for punishment over here. “IthoughtI loved her; I really did. Everything I did, every move I made, I did so with her in mind, but meeting you and getting to know you, showed me differently. I couldn’t have gotten through these past six weeks without you Belle, if you need to hear those three little words then I’ll say them, but they will never hold as much meaning to me as they do you. My feelings for you,” he blows out a frustrated sigh. “Cloud my judgment, everything I do now or any move I make, I do it withusin mind, because there is no more you or me anymore, we’re anus, you’re my co-captain, my teammate, and someone who will be by my side always.” The tears run even faster down my cheeks, without saying the words I love you; he really did just say them without knowing it. He’s right though, those words don’t mean half as much as you think they do when what I feel for him is so much more. People will think I’m crazy for falling in love with a beast, when I have only known him for less than 3 months, but when ya know, you just know. “Can you say something?” A watery laugh escapes me, I bat his hands away and wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him. He moans into my mouth, that sound has me filling with need.

“Jesus Christ!” We break apart and I turn toward my brothers as he wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me back against him. Hunter, Blake and Cass all glare at us. “We are on a fucking plane and there is no doors or bedrooms in it, so for the love of Christ stop, please! No one needs to see that fucking PDA. Especiallywhen saidPDA is with my baby sister!” Laughter burst from me, and Cairo follows suit, Hunter sounds like my dad. My laughter cuts off, I haven’t spoken to my father in weeks, and I really miss him, but I’m still hurt.

“What’s wrong beauty?” I ignore Cairo and focus on my brothers, what I’m about to say is going to shatter the beautiful moment Cairo and I just shared.

“After we get Sky back and deal with those council scum we have to go home.” Cairo tenses behind me and growls, this growl is deep and filled with dominance, so I know Bexley is right there below the surface. Cass ignores Cairo as he stands and moves closer to us, Hunt and Blake follow suit.

“Why?” My shoulders droop slightly.

“Because I need to hear the truth from dad.” I whisper as I drop my gaze to the floor, fingers grip my chin and lift my head until my gaze collides with Cass’s. Anger simmers in the depths of his eyes and from how stiff his jaw is, I know Atticus is riding him right now.

“No matter what he has to say, you are our sister, nothing and no one will ever change that Gabrielle. You are a Wilder and you belong to us––.”

“Correction, belongs to me.” I elbow Cairo in the side and all that earns me is a dark chuckle.

“You’ll pay for that beauty.” Hunter and Blake groan while Cass glares over my head at my mate.

“As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted. We love you Belle. Now, why don’t you tell us what you saw?” For a moment I forgot all about the vision, I sigh.

“Thank you, I love you all as well and we’ll deal with this later. You should all sit down, what I saw wasn’t good.”

Chapter twenty-six

Cairo

Iwoketheothersso Belle wouldn’t have to repeat herself, she just finished telling us what Sky said and what she saw. Callie is a sobbing mess, again. She should have stayed home with my sister. Jess was pissed she couldn’t come, but with her being pregnant Creed refused to even entertain the idea, and he has my full support with that. Once he reminded her of the baby she is carrying, she agreed under the condition he give her updates every hour. We didn’t have time to waste so I carried Belle while she was passed out, we weren’t sure how long she would be out and I couldn’t leave her behind. Her vision and knowing that Alexander is going to be in Montana when we land has me on edge. Bex is pissed that I’m keeping this from Belle, but I don’t know how to tell her. Hearing her say she needed to speak to her father and find out the truth made me feel like shit. I know the truth and still I refuse to tell her because I need herrealfathers help to save my best friend.

“Wait, you said there were eight people?” Belle nods at Creed. “Without Shelley and Dela there should only be five council members remaining.”Fuck, he’s right.

“So, who are the other three?” I ask the group.

“Don’t bite my head off.” Z says to Creed. “Could two of those people be Davina and Vince?” That thought hadn’t crossed my mind until now.

“What? No, Davina is out hunting Alexander!” Creed’s defense is futile and judging by the look on his face he knows it as well.

“Why would she help the council?” Cole asks.

“If what Sky said about Belle is true, then it’s the perfect plan.” All eyes swing to Blake.

“How so?” Creed volleys back.

“Because she knows Cairo has been hiding my sister, which means drawing him out, would also bring my sister out of hiding.”

“What does Sky have to do with this?” I grit out in frustration.

“I think she was just a pawn to coax you out so you would bring me.” I meet Belle’s gaze and the pitying look in her eyes annoys me.

“They could have taken Z.” Zeke scoffs and rolls his eyes when I glare at him. “What?”

“Dude, there is no way you would have hunted for me as hard as you have done for Sky. The Reeves’s pack is only helping because Sky is mated to one of the alpha’s sister, she was the perfect target.” I feel like someone punched me in the gut, Zeke is right as much as I hate to admit it.

“Why would your mother want me though?” Belle asks the three Reeves siblings.

“I honestly don’t know; our best bet would be to find this Alexander and ask him.” Belle’s gaze swings to me and I stiffen at the knowing look in her eyes.
