“You will return my daughter to me––.”

“Why now? You hid her and left her behind, so what the fuck was the point of that?”

“Because it is what kept her alive, I had your council chasing me, Davina and her goon squad hunted me. If they knew what she can do, then they would have killed her.”

“What the fuck can she do that is so important?”

“Her blood is the cure for vampirism.” I’m beyond confused, Cairo stumbles back a step and opens his mouth but no words come out. His eyes take on that glassy look which I have come to learn, it means he and Bex are conversing. Seconds tick by before he finally meets the man’s gaze again.

“Is that why Davina wants her?” The man shakes his head.

“No, she wants to kill her.”

“The fuck!” Cairo growls, he begins to shake, and I watch as fur begins to dot his arms. Bex is so close to the surface, and I see the strain on his face as he tries to wrestle control back from his wolf. “She said she wanted to protect her!”

“She is a born manipulator and lies with such ease you would never know. She makes out that she is the one to keep my daughter safe all these years, when in reality, it was all me. Davina wanted her dead from the moment she knew my daughter is the savior of my people. I must have her returned to me.”

“Fuck you––.”

“I wasn’t asking pup; I have given you everything you need to rescue your friend. You will keep up your end of the deal, if you cross me, I will start with your family, and then I will move onto her so-called siblings until she willingly comes to me. The choice is yours––.”

I gasp.

I feel hands on me and snap my eyes open but groan when the ache in the back of my head intensifies. This is the worst part of having visions, the after effects suck hairy ass balls.

“Here sis.” I feel someone grip my hand and slip something inside them. “It’s Advil sis.” I place the pills in my mouth and blindly reach for the glass Blake hands me. Water drips down the front of me, but I don’t care, I keep my eyes closed as Blake places me back down. Silence ensues and I’m grateful for that, any loud noise right now will feel like a sledgehammer to my brain. After a few minutes when the pain begins to abate slightly, I blink my eyes open slowly, I dart my eyes around and notice I’m lying on the floor but my head rests on something firm, I tilt my head back and cringe slightly. I’ve been using Cole’s thigh as a pillow this whole time! He smirks down at me, and I try to muster up the sweetest smile but fail terribly I feel so awkward in this situation.

My brothers, Creed, Zeke and Callie lean against the opposite wall and my heart explodes in my chest. I’m used to my brothers and dad being so caring and kind when it concerns my visions, but I have never had anyone else do this kind of thing for me. I gingerly sit up and unintentionally shy away from Cole’s touch when he tries to help me.

“I’m sorry, physical contact scares me.” He smiles kindly.

“I know, I wasn’t thinking.”

“Yeah clearly!” I dart my gaze toward the door, Cairo stands there fuming, at the same time clenching his fists, glaring daggers at poor Cole. My reply is right on my tongue, but I pause, he’s wearing the same clothes from the vision I just had!

“Calm down––.”

“Don’t fucking tell me to calm down, you were ten times worse with my sister!”

“Huh!” I snap my gaze to Hunter in shock that he would join in on Creed and Cairo’s verbal sparring match.

“Got something to say asswipe?” I stand and move beside my brother, Cairo meets my gaze and I allow him to see the anger swirling inside me, he doesn’t get to take his anger out on my brother.

“Yeah, actually I do! You snap at Creed for being a douche toward your sister, and you think you can do the same to ours?” Cairo bares his teeth and takes a step forward; I dive out in front of Hunter causing Cairo to stall his movements. Cass reaches out to grab me, but I quickly move out of his reach.

“Low blow right there beauty.” I scoff then place my hands on my hips. I feel the others gather around behind me and all of a sudden, the hallway feels cramped.

“Get over it, you come for one of my brothers and honestly think I would stand by and watch?” I don’t give him a chance to answer. “I willneverlet you hurt them, you protect your sister with your life, and I will do the same for my brothers.”

“Well, if this what coming home every day is going to look like, aren’t I lucky?” I scowl at his lame ass attempt at a joke.

“You took your anger out on Cole for no reason––.” He cuts me off.

“So, you’d be good with my head in Callie’s lap?”

“Yes!” He throws his hands up in the air in frustration, Z, Creed and Callie brush past me to head toward the kitchen, I don’t blame them for escaping. “Where were you this morning?” He tries to mask it and if I wasn’t paying such close attention to him, I would have missed the look of panic in his eyes before he masked it.

“Trying to find Sky.” The lie rolls easily off his tongue, and it grates on my nerves that he stands there, stares me in the eyes and lie. I can feel everyone’s gazes on us, but I ignore them as I push him for more.
