“The pregnancy will kill you; your child is still half vampire, even without the curse being activated. It will feast on your blood and drain the life force from you, if you did manage to survive that, then the labor will kill you.” I nod my head numbly, the conversation around me becomes white noise as I begin to spiral, I place my hands protectively over my stomach.
Chapter thirty
Cairo
Istandinthedoorway and stare at her sleeping form, after Alexander’s admission today she has been quiet. Her brothers have tried to talk to her, so has Callie, fuck even Creed tried, but she won’t utter a word. I’m about to lose my shit soon, I have to find Sky and finish this shit with the council, only then can I focus solely on Belle and the baby and do what needs to be done. I always thought having a baby would be an exciting experience, and it wasn’t until Alexander dropped the news that the mother to my child would die. It’s only been a short time with Belle, but I love her, she has calmed the raging storm inside me and made me see things from a different perspective. Bex is fiercely devoted to her and everything there is to love about her, she is the end to our story, and I couldn’t handle losing her. My phone vibrating in my pocket pulls me from my turmoil, I close the door quietly, then fish the phone from my pocket.
Unknown caller.
I hit the green button. “How did you get this number?”
“Ro it’s me.” I stumble back a step at the sound of Sky’s voice, I brace myself against the wall in the hallway.
“Where are you? Are you okay?”
“I don’t have long––.”
“Tell me where you are, I’m coming now.” I say as I head for the front door.
“You can’t.” I Freeze with my hand gripped around the handle of the front door.
“Why not?”
“Because it’s…it has to be this way.”
“No, it doesn’t––.”
“Cairo, listen to me!” I clamp my mouth closed. “This wild force inside me isn’t staying buried any longer, I can use it to take them out.”
“Skylar, please.” The meek sound of my own voice has anger swirling inside me, I turn toward the kitchen to see the guys all huddled around watching me. I turn my gaze to Alexander who has a knowing look in his eyes.
“Cairo, it has to be this way. I don’t have time to explain it.” She cries out in pain and recoil at the sound of it.
“Sky!” I shout, her rapid breaths come through the phone, and I wait with bated breath to hear her voice.
“It’s pushing through me Ro; I’m surprised I’ve lasted this long in control. Two nights from now under the harvest moon, they are going to try draw the power from inside me and harness it. They have two witches, my powers are stronger, they are meeting near Mount Wood, you need to be there to take out the witches and…me.”
“Fuck off, I’m not doing it––.”
“Hurry, we don’t have much time.” I still at the sound of the strange female’s voice.
“Who the hell is that Sky?”
“A…friend, Cairo, You are the only one who can get to me.”
“I’m begging you Sky, please don’t make me do this.”
“I’m so sorry, there is no other choice, they cannot have the power inside me Ro, If they get it, they will use it against all of you, and I won’t let that happen.”
“Use it now to get the fuck out of there!” I growl.
“I wish I could but the room I’m in is blocking my magic somehow, my…friend will send you the coordinates of the meet––.”
“Sky, please––.”
