“I figured this would be my first order of business.”

I arched a brow, peeking up at her.

Leaning forward, she then placed her fingertip on the top of the paper. “So, let me know what you think because Joseph informed me of the details, and I filled in the blanks.”

Leaning back in my seat, I moved my lips and silently whispered the words typed on the paper.

Mr. Valentino Greco and Miss Isabelle Ayala would like to address the situation which happened while they were attempting to dine out recently. As Miss Ayala was being escorted to the table by her personal security guard, she encountered a woman who shouted questions and stepped exceptionally close to her face while speaking. Miss Ayala’s personal security guard then decided it was in the best interest and safety of Miss Ayala to flee the restaurant through the back door, where they were shortly met by Mr. Greco and his own security detail. Her bodyguard only covered her head with his jacket and escorted her away as he saw the situation as a potential threat.

There was no physical altercation between the accuser and Miss Ayala, or anyone else. The public was misinformed of the details that occurred. Miss Ayala is a very caring individual who was surprised in the moment and did not have time to respond to the accuser before she was escorted away from the scene. She and her fiancée, Mr. Greco, were only there to enjoy a nice lunch together, but Mr. Greco stepped away for a moment to take a call.

After further investigation, it was concluded that there was no threat, but no chances were taken considering the prominence of Mr. Greco.

I setthe paper down and leaned forward once again, propping my elbows on the desk. “I have to admit, this is good.”

“Thank you.” Grinning, she wrinkled her nose. “I didn’t know what I should say, so I kept it professional.”

“As it should have been. I think you’ll be a great fit for the house.”

Though her statement was well-written and listed facts, I still did not want her around. I was only doing it for Isabelle. Since the moment I laid eyes on her, she had always been first in my life.

“Would you like me to call a press conference and share that?”

Just as I was about to respond, William came in from outside and closed the door behind him as quietly as possible. “Sorry, I don’t mean to interrupt.”

“This is Lindsay.” I gestured toward her. “She is going to be our publicist.”

As they exchanged a greeting, I observed her mannerisms and still had a weird feeling I could not shake. William was all smiles and joking around with her. It was his way of scanning them with his internalbullshit meter. As their conversation died down, Joseph stepped into the room.

“Miss Baxter, Helen will escort you to your room.”

Immediately, my eyes widened as William spun around to me. His gaze was just as shocked. “She’s moving in with you?”

Joseph took a few steps forward. “She asked if she could stay in the house and get to know you guys.”

She pivoted around, shyly smiling. “I thought it would help me respond to the public better if I knew your mannerisms and personalities myself.”

Clenching my fists, I held them down at my side, unhappy with Joseph’s decision. “Very well, but there are rules here.”

Nodding, she grinned. “I don’t think those will be a problem, sir.”

She sashayed to toward the door with a newfound confidence. I shot Joseph an angry expression, narrowing my gaze. He only offered a single nod, knowing I was pissed off. He hurried out behind Lindsay, closing the door behind him.

“Well, that went as I thought it would.” William sighed. “Are you cool with it?”

Balling my fists, I jerked open my desk drawer and pulled out a cigarette and lighter.

As I twirled in front of the mirror, I obsessed over my new dress for the party; a silver sequined floor-length, low-cut gown with thigh split and open back. I found it in a store near the mall. Tanya and I stopped by on the way home and when I tried it on, I could not leave without it. It was the perfect fit, and I felt gorgeous in it.

After the incident at the restaurant, Valentino had made sure no media could get within two hundred feet of our property gate. He wanted our three hundred guests and us to be able to relax tonight with no incident. After everything, I felt at ease knowing he had quadrupled security at the estate.

“Are you ready?” Tanya called from the doorway.

I spun around, smiling. My mouth fell agape as she waltzed in, wearing her new red outfit. The style was similar to mine, except she chose a halter top version.

“Holy boobage!” She gasped as she threw her palm over her mouth to stop herself from yelling.

“What?” Snickering, I rolled my eyes. “Okay, it’s not that bad.”
