She folded her hands over her stomach. “You have to tell him, Belle.

A lump swelled in my throat. “I know. Like I told you earlier, I’m worried.”

She perched on the edge of the bed with a wide grin. “He’ll be so excited, oh my God! The way he interacts with Aston says he’s going to be excited.”

“I will tell him if the opportunity presents itself tonight.” I turned back to the mirror, posing sideways, and rubbing my flat stomach.

“He probably already knows. Valentino is like God.”

I crinkled my brow, turning back to her. “What?”

She pulled out a mint from her clutch and tossed it into her mouth. “Because he knows everything.”

We giggled. She was right. It was hard to hide anything from that man. He was about as intelligent as they come.

KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.

We both whipped around to face the door. I prayed Valentino had not heard us, but he would not have knocked on our own bedroom door.

“You can come in.”

I expected it to be Joseph out of habit, but it was Noah. He took a few steps into the room, then cleared his throat before he spoke. “Miss Ayala, I’m supposed to escort you downstairs now.”

“Right, sorry.” I turned to Tanya. “See you down there?”

She nodded and stood, then ambled over to door. She stopped in the entrance and spun around. “I promise it’ll be a good thing.” Before I could reply, she sped out of the room with a wide smile.

Focusing my attention on Noah, I grinned. “Loving the tux, James Bond.”

He snorted. “Thanks, Miss Ayala.” He leaned against the wall and slid his phone from his pocket, busying himself on it as I finished scurrying around to complete a few things. I glanced over at him a few times to examine him. He was still just gazing at his phone. I did not know if he found something that upset him or was trying to respect whatever I may be doing. Suddenly, he broke the silence.

“We need to talk, Miss Ayala.” He stuck his arm out and closed the door.

“Okay?” I became nervous, running my fingers up and down my forearm. “Maybe after my party?” I marched for the door.

He shook his head, placing his hand on the doorknob.

“Why did you close us in here?” My shaky voice alarmed him.

“Wait, calm down.” He hissed just above a whisper. “I just want to talk to you about your new publicist.”

“I haven’t met her yet.”

He pinched the bridge of his nose, taking a deep breath. “I don’t like her or trust her.” He lifted his gaze.

KNOCK. KNOCK.

Noah yanked the door open.

Helen jumped back, glancing back and forth between us. “Miss Ayala, Mr. Greco is asking for you and Noah to please hurry.”

Chewing the inside of my cheek, I wanted to respond to Noah, but it was not the time. Lowering my eyes, I sped past him and Helen toward the elevator.

“Miss Ayala, wait.” Noah huffed behind me, his footsteps pounding the floor.

The doors opened the moment I pressed the button, and I stepped in. He followed. As the doors closed, he looked up at the camera in the ceiling's corner before bowing his head.

“As I said,” he sighed, then covered his mouth with his hand, “I don’t trust her.”
