“Fair enough.” He took the glass as he inhaled his cigarette. “And the golf tournament?”

“I’ll explain later.” I rolled my eyes, taking a large swig of my drink.

“I’m in, though. You know I love golf.”

I nodded once.

“Oh!” He snapped his finger, pointing toward me. “Tanya wanted to know if you guys want to go to—”

KNOCK! KNOCK!

Isabelle opened the door and stuck her head in then scowled at both of us. William instantly snubbed his cigarette out in the ashtray.

“Sorry, I was just stressed a bit and—”

“It’s okay. I’m not stepping in. Tanya called and wants us to have dinner with them tonight.”

William rotated back in his chair to me. “That’s what I was about to tell you.”

“I’m good with that but after we’re done, we have to handle the Felipe and Lindsay computer stuff.”

She nodded. “I’m going to meet Laura for breakfast and get more wedding stuff done and hi by the way, Liam.”

He smiled, offering a lazy wave. “Hey.”

“Take Noa—” I sighed. “Noah.”

“Would you rather me take Joseph just this once?” She rolled her eyes. “He just got home.”

“Oh, yes actually.” A sigh of relief escaped me. I was trying my best to mask my annoyance. “Take him and I will notify Noah and postpone a meeting.”

“It’s been a while since we were like this.” I giggled, pointing back and forth between Joseph and me in the back seat of the Range Rover. It had been some time since he was responsible for only my safety at the request of Valentino. Though Noah was amazing, Joseph and I had a closer bond as one would expect. He was family to me. Of course, Valentino still could not stand it when he addressed me by my name instead ofMiss Ayalabut occasionally, he allowed Joseph to refer to him without a formality.

The driver and one of the gate security guys in training, Paxton, sat in the front chatting while I got lost in my thoughts, peering out the window with a smile. I was reminiscing about all the times Joseph was forced to escort me around New York when Valentino wasonlySir or V. I started to snicker for the thousandth time about making Joseph run through Central park.

“Not that I don’t love you to death and enjoy your company but what did Noah do that caused this?”

I turned my neck with a wide grin painted on my face.

He chortled, flickering his eyes.

Clasping my hands together close to my chest, I fluttered my eyelashes. “His only crime is loving Laura.”

“Wait!” Joseph spat. “What?!”

“Okay, okay, so notloveper se.” I twisted sideways as much as I could while wearing a seatbelt. “Valentino caught them making out in the foyer this morning before she left.”

“Oh, Noahhh.” Joseph buried his head in his hand. “I thought she was just staying over for the hell of it.” He massaged his temples, silent for a moment as he shook his head. Lifting his gaze to mine, he smiled. “I wondered what was going on after your party. Things seemed chummy with them, but I thought he was just being nice.”

“I totally support it.” I cheerfully jerked my shoulders up then let them fall.

Wagging his finger at me, he smirked. “You would.” Suddenly, he became silent and serious, cocking his head. His eyes darted up to the suddenly noiseless front seats then back at me. Touching his ear, he sighed.Got it.

With haste, he dug his phone out of his pocket, bringing up the front camera. He held it up, aiming it toward the back windshield. He shoved it back into his pocket and grasped for his rear waistband, grabbing his gun. Reaching over to my hand, he softly tapped my knuckles. “Don’t look at me.”

Staring ahead, I twisted my lips to the side, whispering. “What the hell is going on?”

“What do you want me to do, Joe?” Morrison’s grip tightened on the steering wheel as his eyes darted back in the rear-view mirror.
