“Yeah.” William answered before I could.

“I’m going to walk around the perimeter of the island and check it out.” Noah tapped on his earpiece. “I put this back in so I can communicate with you on a private channel.”

I twisted my wrist to active my watch’s screen. “Channel?”

“Four.”

William and I both adjusted the channel on our watches. “Got it.” I placed my palm back on Isabelle’s thigh.

“Isabelle.” Noah bowed his head toward her. “Do you want to go with me? I figure it will also give us some time to talk about things.”

She met my gaze, asking for silent approval. Pinning her bottom lip between her teeth, she waited with uncertainty, knowing I was still processing the new information. I offered a subtle nod, knowing Noah would keep her safe.

She stood and leaned forward, planting a kiss on the top of my head as she rested her arms on my shoulders. “I won’t be long, I don’t think?” She glanced over at Noah who shook his head.

I reached around, taking her backside in both my hands and gave her a squeeze. “Take your time. “I’m going to chat here with William for a bit then shower and check on Joseph.”

“I love you.”

I stood, resting my hands on her hips. “I love you too and be careful.” I peered over her at Noah, narrowing my gaze.

“Stop.” Isabelle snickered. Placing her hands on my chest, she stood on her toes and placed a peck on the corner of my lips before she and Noah strode out of the room.

Before Noah disappeared entirely, he spun around and leaned back in the doorway. “Who’s handling all the business for you back home?”

“Blaine is overseeing the New York office and is delegating out to the international management.”

“Okay. I know I shouldn’t tell you what to do but be careful communicating with him until I know more. I have some people working on it right now. You should be able to be back in contact soon. I’ll have a look at the phones later.”

William, knowing how important my empire was to me, lifted his brows and glinted back and forth between us with a smirk, waiting for me to snap.

“Okay.”

“Okay, we’ll be back in a bit.” He closed the door behind them.

“Wow, you didn’t argue with him.” William stood and started to pace back and forth.

“When the safety of my family is at stake, there’s not point. Clearly he knows what he’s doing, and it makes me feel a bit better that he’s had some training from a higher power. He might be a great asset after all.”

“You do realize we might actually be fucked right?” William’s face turned to anger. “We’re sitting ducks on this island, Valentino.”

Silently, I strode to the window. I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath. Joseph had trusted Noah’s plan when they spoke about it. While William and I had the manpower back in New York, we had chosen not to involve my men or allies in the war with Felipe. It was too risky.

The less people who knew, the better. Felipe spent years studying me. He probably expected me to send people after him. Instead, Noah was bringing him here, or so we hoped. For now, we were sitting ducks, as William said, playing defense instead of offense.

William cleared his throat. “Man, I really don’t want to be shot by that prick again.”

We were right where we needed to be, but we were also in a very dangerous place. For all we knew, we were surrounded. While we wanted Felipe to know we were here and presumed helpless, we needed to make sure that we were not actually trapped.

“Once Noah returns from checking the perimeter, we can have a talk about the next plan of execution.”

I spun around to see William was glaring out the window on the other side of the room. He shook his head. “I have a bad feeling about this.”

“At this point, we don’t have a choice. Felipe knows I’m not dumb.”

He pivoted around on his heels. “Yeah, which is why he’s going to come at us from all angles. The moment you got involved with Isabelle, you put a target on us.”

“And are you going to turn your back on us?”
