I spun to William. “What is fuck is wrong with him?”

“Kill him!” William growled. “I don’t want him to have the chance to escape.”

Slowly, I turned back to the asshole who hurt the people I loved and killed the brother who I finally shared common ground with. The brother who saved people he did not have to. The brother I would never get to share another drink with because of the disgusting prick rolling around on the ground in front of me.

Crouching, I pressed my gun under his chin, forcing his gaze up to mine. “Don’t have much to say anymore?” I clicked my tongue on the roof of my mouth several times before I whacked my pistol across his face, slicing his temple and the corner of his eye open.

His head collapsed to the sand. His body fell silent. Slapping his face firmly a few times, I chuckled as I forced him back to consciousness. He rolled his head back and forth, lifting his hand at me, attempting to speak.

“You—” I stretched back, giving my gun to Noah before squeezing Felipe’s collar, elevating his head. “will never—” I brought my fist across his face then let go of my grasp. “hurt my family—” I jabbed him with the other fist. “AGAIN!”

Standing, I held out my hand. Noah placed the firearm in my palm. Smirking, I aimed it at the middle of Felipe’s head as I stood over his powerless and noiseless frame.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Unsettled

After Felipe and his two men were confirmed dead, the three of us searched around the area to determine if they had indeed come with others. After assuring it was only the three of them, we took Felipe’s boat and headed for the island the others had fled to. Noah sat in the captain’s seat of the smaller speedboat, steering since he had calculated the layout of the waters and land before we left the states. William watched for any ambush on the way, and I sat silently, staring out at the water in deep thought about the event that just occurred.

Holding my palms out, I stared down at my hands as I rotated them. The reminisce of leftover, smeared blood glistened in the moonlight. It was easy. Too easy. As much as I hated the asshole, he was clever and powerful. Since I had known him, he never surrendered. He never backed down from a fight. There was a point when I was assaulting him that I thought he may try to fight back, but he did not give me the satisfaction. Either way, I was going to kill him…and I did. The wheels in my head spun as I leaned over, propping my elbows on my knees.

Now that he was out of our lives forever, my fiancée and I could raise our children in peace. That was all I cared about. However, my guard would never be down. If he was gone, it would have only meant someone would take his place. It was my hope that they would leave us alone, but in my world, being left alone was a fantasy. Isabelle’s former boss was still on the loose. Surely, he had not been left in charge of the mission. Time would tell. For now, I just wanted to wrap my arms around Isabelle again, after I showered.

As the other island’s silhouette came into view, Noah pulled out his phone, placing it to his ear without the earpiece.

We’re arriving in approximately two minutes.

Driving with one hand, he slid his phone back into his pocket with the other. He then slowed the boat down and veered toward the pier. Sitting back, I sighed, still incapable of getting Felipe out of my head. I glanced over at the bigger island, unable to see the mansion that sat among the trees. The island was only a shadow in the distance at this point.

“Valentino!”

I snapped my gaze toward the guys. “What, Liam?!”

“I’ve said your name several times.”

Noah extended his arm. “We’re here.”

Standing, I glanced back at the expensive purchase once again. A purchase I wanted to be special for my fiancée. A place we could come and have fun. Making memories. The money I paid was not important to me, but her happiness was everything to me. Time spent with me anywhere would make her happy. I was doing my best to understand that and think more like she did.

I followed them off the boat onto the long dock, ready to clean myself off then froze. “Damnit.”

They both stop and spun around, answering in harmony. “What?”

“Clothes. I’m covered in blood and all our clothes are back there.” I jerked my head back in the direction from where he had just come from.

“Fuck.” Noah muttered.

William took a step toward me. “I’ll go back and get all the luggage.”

“Not a chance.” Noah dangled the boat’s keys in the air. “I don’t mind going back.”

“No one is going alone.” I grumbled under my breath, still suspicious and wondering if it was a good idea to go back at all.

“The other pilot is still in Nuku'alofa.” Noah slid his phone from his pocket. “I’ll call him get and our departure set up while William and I will go back and get everything.”

It was the only choice we had. The only chance of survival. Reluctantly, I agreed. Noah’s face contorted as he ran his thumb across his bottom lip.

“What?” I arched a brow, tilting my head. “What now?”
