She stuck her head in the doorway, announcing, “A Mr. Silas is here to see you, but Miss Ayala sent me your list of meetings and I don't see--.”

“It's okay.” I stood to my feet, waving her off, “Please send him in.”

She nodded, pushing the door open all the way, allowing him to enter as I stepped around to the front of my desk.

He approached me, shook my hand, teasing, “You've already broken many hearts, Mr. Greco.”

I smirked, “Yeah, well there is only one heart I care about.”

He grinned, “Shall we?”

I nodded, gesturing toward a large, round table in the middle of my office. He gently laid his briefcase down, popping it open with both of his thumbs. LED lights illuminated the beautiful diamond rings that lined almost every ounce of space inside. I became overwhelmed, my eyes widened as I studied them all ever so delicately.

“It's overwhelming I know,” he chuckled, shrugging, as if he read my mind, “but you said spare no expense, so I brought as many as I could fit.”

He picked one out, presenting it in his palm. “Keep in mind that we can always combine multiple designs if you want something custom made.”

I nodded, glancing, “Yes, I definitely don't want anyone to have the same ring as her.”

“Well, have a look and I will help you design the perfect one for--,” his voice trailed off.

“Isabelle,” I commented as I leaned over, closely analyzing each ring slowly and carefully.

“Well, I wish you the best Mr. Greco and I am sure she is lovely,” he alluded in a friendly tone.

Glimpsing at him out of the corner of my eye, I corrected, “She's more than that.”

After going over every tiny detail of every ring, I showed him five to combine into one. I took small details from each one, creating the most exquisite engagement ring for the most incredible woman. A lot of people did not know, but I was somewhat of an artist, so I was able to draw a sketch of my design well enough for him to make something out of it back at his shop.

He closed his briefcase, patting the top of it as he smiled, “Right, so I will get started on this and keep you posted on its completion status.”

I held my palm up as I strode around to the other side of my desk, writing a number on the back of a business card. I held it out for him. He stepped over, taking it between his index and middle finger. He peered down puzzled.

“That is William's number,” I explained. “Please send any updates to his phone as I don't want Isabelle to see anything.”

He nodded, “Good thinking.”

I escorted him to the door, but before he left, I had Asha make him sign a non-disclosure agreement, forbidding him from speaking about my engagement or relationship to anyone. He was a trustworthy business associate, but when it came to my relationship with Isabelle, I spared no room for mishaps, especially with Felipe still on the loose. Any wrong move could lead him directly to her.

The moment Silas was out the door, Alessandro came barreling into my office , slamming the door closed behind him, almost as if he were in a panic.

“I thought you were going back to A.C.?”

“What the fuck is going on?” he hissed, ignoring me.

I arched my eyebrows, “He is the jeweler that is--.”

“No, not that!” He rolled his eyes.

I sauntered to my desk, sat down, and propped my elbows on the arm rests as I formed a triangle over my mouth with my fingertips. I knew this moment would come. He hated Felipe for other reasons.

Marching frustratingly over to me, he leaned on his palms on the other side of my desk. “What business do you have with Felipe Ayala right now?”

I gnawed the inside of my cheek, avoiding responding.

He exhaled loudly, shaking his head with a disbelieving smile as he pushed off my desk. Crossing his arms, he glared down at me. “Val, for fuck's sake what did you get yourself in to?”

I rocked back in my seat, entwining my fingers behind my head, nodding toward the chair in front of me. “Sit.”
