I paused, giving her time to process my words, but she blankly stared ahead at me, giving me no indication that she understood me. I shifted my weight in the chair, hoping my movement would trigger her to respond in any way.

Rolling her bottom lip through her teeth, she finally confirmed, “So, a catch?”

“Yes, the rules are that you will have to have twenty-four-hour security with you,” I explained. “You cannot leave your apartment unless it's approved first. You will have to text or call me and check in three times a day.” I took a deep breath before continuing, “You may not give anyone what belongs to me, per our contract. You will have to return to me on the weekends to spend time with me. If you can follow these rules, I will let you go.”

“And what about the money you paid for me?” she challenged.

“Don't worry about it” I dismissed, waving my hand at her.

She tilted her head to show me her eyes were calling my bluff, but she remained silent.

“Isabelle,” I sighed, running my fingers through my hair, “I believe you will come back to me, so I’m not worried about it.”

She giggled, “What makes you so confident about this?”

“Call it intuition I guess,” I muttered, licking my bottom lip.

She sat back in her chair, peering around the room as if she were searching for something, but suddenly fixated her gaze on mine. It almost felt for a moment as if she discovered something. Rolling my eyes, I shifted in my seat, lacing my fingers together as I waited for her to reply.

“You're wrong you know,” she desperately tried to convince me she would not return.

I smirked, leaning my elbow on the arm rest.

She leaned forward, placing her hands on her hips. “I won't come back to you,” she snapped. “I might even decide to run away.”

I shook my head, chuckling at her. She reminded me of an angry juvenile corn snake; small and adorable warning strikes, wanting to appear tough, meanwhile inflicting no damage. She sighed, shaking her head. She stood to her feet, taking a few steps away from the chair. I casually stood as well, sliding my hands into my pockets.

“I'll have Joseph take you home tomorrow,” I asserted.

Walking toward the exit, I could see that she was in deep thought, possibly questioning my motives. Such a big deal was made about the contract, that I was sure she was wondering her fate at this point. Just as she got to the door, she whipped around, placing her hands on her hips.

“Wait! I don't even have a home to go back to do I?” she hissed. “That is your plan to keep me here isn’t it?”

"I made some calls,” I chuckled.

She slanted her head, unsure if I was finished speaking. I was going to leave it and say no more, but I did not want to play a game with her at the moment. I knew that soon enough, I would be playing the ultimate game with her, so I decided to spare her for the time being.

“What do you mean?” she questioned me, dropping her hands to her side while awkwardly stroking her forearm.

“You have a new home,” I affirmed. “Your furniture will be delivered tomorrow afternoon.”

Folding her arms over her chest, she pursed her lips, staring at me through her black lace. I pressed a button on my watch. Instantly, one of my bodyguards entered the room. Smirking, I waved my hand, dismissing her, motioning for her to be taken from my office. Not another word was said from either of us, as she was quietly escorted back to her room.

Let the game begin.

As I hiked to my room, I thought about what he said. His offer sounded way too good to be true. Falling back onto my bed, I realized I may be in disbelief. Was he truly going to set me free? Something about this seemed very bizarre to me. The man just paid an outstanding amount of money for my virginity, yet he was not even going to bother taking it before he let me go.

Why was I so worried about it anyway? Free was what I wanted, yes? He did show me kindness while I was here, but I did not want to live my entire life under these conditions. I realized that I was only going to be half free. He did not tear up our contract, so I was still technically bound to him. I spent the rest of my day reading until it was time for dinner.

I decided to make the most of dinner, dressing in a formal, silver, floor length strapless gown with a thigh length split on the right side. I paired it with stilettos and nice jewelry he had stocked in my room. Was I thinking about taunting him? Something seemed very strange to me causing me to want to know more. Maybe breaking down walls was what I needed to do. At the very least, my outfit could pose as a distraction causing him to let his guard down.

I stalked down the long hallway to the elevator. I placed the veil on my eyes, a smile spreading across my face just as the doors to the bottom floor opened. I made my way to the kitchen but was stopped by a man before I arrived.

“This way, Miss,” the butler commented, gesturing in the other direction.

Taking my arm gently in his fingertips, he guided me to a large dining room where Sir was waiting for me to arrive. Nodding their heads in exchange, the butler quickly disappeared, leaving me alone in the room with the, stillstrange man. I gulped.

Peering around the room, I noticed that it was dimly lit with an array of lighted candles and flower centerpieces on the table. The lengthy table sat maybe twelve people and stretched out across a long rug. Sizeable canvas artwork donned the walls throughout the room, giving it a royal appearance.
