I had hope that my life was going to really start looking up soon. I half danced up the stairs to my bedroom, waltzing into my closet to pick out the perfect outfit. Wanting to impress my potential new boss, I chose a chic business-casual pants suit. Taking a final glimpse at myself in the mirror before I left, I smoothed out my attire then leaned forward, making sure my hair and makeup was nothing short of perfection.

Peeking down at my watch, I realized it was time to go. I noted earlier that the address was not that far away, so I chose to walk. My bodyguards and I traversed down the sidewalk toward VCG International. I had grown used to their company already and Joseph was quite easy to get along with.

Before long, we arrived at the front of the building and crossed the street.I slowly trailed my eyes up the side of the skyscraper, taking a deep breath. Intimidation set in, and I began to quake in my stilettos. Joseph planted himself next to me, crossing his arms. I turned to him with wide eyes.

“You’re going to do great, Miss,” he confidently reassured.

I smiled, nodding. Because of my nerves, I was rendered speechless.

I would nail this interview. I had to. It was a chance for me to start over. As I took a step toward the entrance, my phone vibrated, causing me to jump. I dug it out of my handbag reading simple text from Sir.

Good luck on your interview.

I blushed as I replied,Thank you xoxo

Xo, was all he sent back, which was shocking to me since he did not come off as theXotype.

I grinned, placing my phone back in my bag. As I stepped closer to the entrance, a man in suit and nametag opened the door for me. I thanked him but quickly noticed that my security was no longer following me.

I turned to Joseph, hissing, “Aren't you coming?”

He shook his head, smirking, “This is as far as we go today.”

Confused, I shrugged but did not want to be late. “Oh, okay then,” I agreed, “I shouldn't be too long.”

He smiled, bowing his head as I disappeared inside the building.

I smirked to myself knowing she would be interviewing with me. Glancing at my phone, I took note that she would be arriving any moment. I stood, striding to the full length mirror in the corner of my office, adjusting my tie. Lifting my chin, I admired myself as I thought about the dangerous game that I was now playing with her.

The truth was, she honestly did apply with my company through a staffing agency after losing her job at the bar. The moment I saw her application, I intercepted it, changing her phone number to the one I gave to her. I needed my assistant to have the correct contact information when she reached out to her about the position. I wondered what she would say when she saw me…again. After all, we had a date in two hours.

Samantha, my assistant, called into my office,Mr. Greco, your 4:00 p.m. is here.

Send her in, Samantha, I ordered in the most professional tone I could muster.

I returned to my desk seat because I got a notification popup from William. It was a video of Jesse talking but the volume was muted. I could not watch it right now, so I rapidly closed my laptop just as the door opened. Isabelle gasped, standing just inside the threshold, still as a statue.

I stood, making my way around my desk, greeting her, “Hello again.”

Her eyes widened and she swallowed hard. Staring at me, she began to tilt her head ever so slightly.

I crossed my arms. “Isabelle,” I belted, trying to snap her out of her state of shock.

Her head jerked as she shifted her weight, straightening her posture. Barely above a whisper, she choked, “You'retheValentino Greco.”

I nodded, sliding my hands into my pockets as my lip began to smirk.

“Oh my God!” she exclaimed loudly. “I'm so sorry,” she apologized, “I must live under a rock!”

I arched a brow. I am sure the amusement was visible on my face as I watched her squirm.

“I-I have heard of you,” she stuttered. “I have seen you, obviously,” she declared, “but I never put the puzzle pieces together.” She began to shiver a bit.

“Relax,” I insisted. “This is a job interview,” I reminded her. “You don't want to spoil my opinion of you, do you?”

Mortification washed over her face as she turned a bright shade of pink, immediately sitting in the chair facing my desk.

I laughed, holding my hands up in surrender, “I'm joking.”
