“What?!” I shouted, finally breaking the silence, hurling my hands in the air.

William took a small step forward, with his hands in his pockets. “We have a slight issue and you're not going to like it,” he sighed, crossing his arms.

“Well then,” I scoffed, gesturing toward him, “please fucking enlighten me, Liam!”

Averting his eyes to Blaine, he bowed his head. Stepping to the side of the room, he leaned on the wall, folding his arms over his chest, bracing himself for whatever was to follow. I had seen that look in his eyes many times. It was never a good outcome. Blaine gave him a worried glimpse. William lifted his hand signaling for him to proceed.

Blaine stepped forward with a file folder, dropping it on the center of my desk. He wrapped one of his arms around his stomach as he lifted his other hand to his mouth, wincing a bit.

“Why are you making that face?” I snapped. “What is that?” I suspiciously questioned, almost scared to touch the folder based on the appearance of Blaine’s expression.

“You’re going to want to see that,” Joseph chimed in from the back of the room.

Glancing up at him, I rolled my eyes, huffing as I reached out. Before I could touch it, William appeared out of nowhere, slamming his hand down on it, pulling it away. He held it close to his body as Blaine took a giant step back, retreating to the other side of the room.

“Listen Valentino,” William cleared his throat.

Normally William referred to me as Boss, or Val, depending on the situation so I knew that whatever was in that folder, I was not going to like. He turned his back to me.

“Would everyone please step out and leave Blaine and I alone with him?” he requested of my security team.

Joseph lifted his chin, awaiting my approval. Raising my hand, I waved them away. After the doors were closed, William turned his attention back to me, gripping the folder.

“I know I shouldn't preface anything like this,” he warned, “but I need you to not freak out.”

“Give me that fucking file,” I snapped, snatching the folder out of his hand.

I opened the cover, thumbing through the pages. My eyes searched for answers I thought they already knew. William got ready to speak, but I lifted my hand in the air signaling for him to not dare open his mouth. It was in that moment that my eyes fell on the face of an extremely familiar man.

“The masquerade!” I exclaimed. “He's the asshole who kept bidding against me!”

William cleared his throat, tapping his finger on his mouth, mumbling, “We were able to find out who was behind the mask, and well, just turn the page.”

“What did you say?” I growled, gritting my teeth as I glowered at William.

He lowered his eyes, taking a deep breath while shaking his head. Pinching the bridge of his nose, he opened his mouth to speak, but failed. I averted my eyes to the papers once again, turning the page. That moment, rage grew within me as I was face to face with a zoomed in photo of the one person in my life that I loathed.

“Uh no,” I chuckled sarcastically, slamming the folder closed before tossing it onto my desk. “Nice one. Where's the real one?”

William shook his head, sliding his hands into his pockets as he stared directly into my eyes. Blaine shifted his weight from one foot to the other, seemingly more nervous at my reaction. I rolled my eyes as I placed my hands on my hips.

“You're joking!” I snapped. “Please tell me that you are fucking kidding me!”

I stomped to the wall, drew my fist back, and punched it as hard as my strength would allow without shattering my knuckles. Spinning around, I pointed at both of them, disapprovingly.

“Are you fucking kidding me?!” I roared.

I slowly opened the door to my bedroom seeing she was asleep. Trying to be as quiet as possible, I crept into the room, slowly clicking the door closed. Among my anger tonight, I still smiled to myself as I inched closer to her, carefully removing the pillow off her face before slipping my clothes off. As I slid into bed, she turned the opposite way. I pulled her body into mine, wrapping my arm around her, holding her.

She squirmed a bit, trying to settle herself once again. I began to grow against her backside. Slowly and gently, I ran my fingertips up her smooth skin, placing small kisses on the back of her neck. She woke up in a fright, peering back over her shoulder in fear.

“Shhh,” I soothed, “it's just me.”

“Everything okay?” she mumbled with a sleepy voice. “I heard yelling before I fell asleep.”

“Si, bella,” I rasped, running my fingers through her hair.

She instinctively rolled over to face me, wrapping her leg around my waist. I smirked coyly as I gazed into her eyes. Leaning forward, I gently kissed her soft lips.
