“Nothing you need to be worried about.” I lifted my chin, resting a lingering peck on her forehead.

Her sleepy eyes were struggling to stay open, but she sluggishly sat up, wiping them with her fingertips. I altered my weight, propping up on my elbow, wondering what she was doing. She began to stand, but I tugged her wrist, pulling back into the bed.

Turning to face me, she whispered, “I was just going to go to my room.”

I tilted my head, smiling at her adorable face with messy strands of hair falling into her eyes. She puckered her lips before yawning. Caressing her arm, I watched her face began to contort in confusion.

“Why do you have to go?” I mused.

“I'm sure you want to sleep,” she conceded, “and that is my room.”

I chuckled, running my palm up her thigh, “Well I need you next to me tonight.”

While that was the truth, tomorrow I would have to come clean about a few things. I was not looking forward to it at all. She deserved to at least know that Tanya was not wronging her. I am sure if anything, she could use a friend at the moment. I was getting ready to turn her entire world inside out. Correction, I was about to turn both of our worlds upside down.

That night, I fell asleep holding her in my arms, tightly against my body. It was something I had sworn off doing with anyone, but a line had been crossed. It was a line that I had been wanting to cross for a long time with her.

The black, lace veil would come out to play again soon, but it would not be because I did not want her to see me. Next time, it would be because I did not want her to see what was coming.

The next morning, I called down to the kitchen, ordering my executive chef to make us a nice filling breakfast with mimosas. Tenderly, I stroked her cheek as I kissed her sensual lips to wake her. She stirred, smiling as she woke to my gesture.

“What time is it?” she yawned, stretching.

“Time for you to get a watch,” I joked.

“Ha-ha Valentino has old people jokes,” she teased as she stood on the bed with a foot on each side of my body, peering down at me smirking beneath her. She smiled, “Are you always this cheerful in the morning?”

“I am now that I can see your eyes,” I asserted with a cheeky grin.

Reaching out, I grabbed her ankle to pull her down, but she danced out of the way, dodging my hands as I continued to grab at her legs. I gave up, allowing her to have the win. She positioned herself in the same stance above my body, giggling as I rolled my eyes.

She playfully glared down at me taunting, “You gotta be faster than that,Sir.” She purposely enunciated the former nickname that I had ordered her to call me.

I pulled my pillow from underneath my head, tossing it at her. It smacked her face, muffling whatever she said next. My mouth fell open as my eyes widened, unsure if she was hurt or not. I know it was just a pillow, but I did not expect it to hit her so hard.

“Oh my God,” I laughed harshly, apologizing with half concern, “I'm so sorry!” I covered my mouth, trying to hide the amused expression.

She began to snicker as she hopped off the bed. “I'm going to shower and get dressed,” she called as she entered my bathroom.

“We can just eat naked in here if you want,” I shouted back to her, dreading getting out of bed.

She emerged from the bathroom wearing only my robe which was loose on her small frame. I stood, stretching as I approached her. Snaking my arms around her body, I pulled her tightly against me.

“I need to go to my room and pick out something to wear,” she murmured.

I nodded, hanging on to her as I walked to the door. She smiled, peering up into my eyes. Opening the door, I sighed as I leaned in the threshold, still wearing nothing but the scent of her essence.

“I’m going to shower too,” I noted, “then I'll be downstairs on the patio, so I’ll meet you there.”

She nodded, exiting my bedroom with a smile.

I wanted to stay casual this morning, so I chose a pair of dark jeans and a little black, off the shoulder t-shirt. I navigated my way to the patio for the first time with full sight. It was much easier this time since I could see where I was going. I took mental photos on the way downstairs, eyeing everything I was once blind to. His home was even more beautiful than I ever imagined.

As I stepped outside onto the patio, I spotted him. Basking in all his splendor while sipping hot coffee from a fancy little mug, he studied a file folder. Perhaps it was work related. Standing still, I admired that I could see him in full detail now. I could not take my eyes off of the way the sunlight kissed his tanned skin, his piercing blue eyes, and the way his tousled hair appeared as if he has just run his fingers through it in some form of frustration.

Why me? If this is the hand life dealt me then I was okay with it now, but there would be a lot of questions he would have to answer in the near future. Sipping his coffee, he intently fretted over whatever he was reading while a newspaper laid close by on the table. What was it with this man and newspapers?

He slowly glanced up from his reading. “Isabelle, are you going to just stand there, or are you going to join me for breakfast?”
