“No, we can’t keep doing that. Can’t keep going back and forth.”

I purse my lips and look her over before nodding. “Yeah, you’re right.”

“I know,” she responds sassily and I chuckle at her joke. “I, um, wanted to ask you something.”

“What’s that?” I take a sip of the now mostly cooled hot chocolate and wait. Thank God it’s cool, or else her next words would have sent hot, hot chocolate up my nose.

“Will you move in?” I inhale the drink too fast and try really fucking hard not to let liquid come out, she stares at me with wide eyes, waiting for an answer.

“I wasn’t expecting that,” I explain my choking.

“I know.” She nods, setting her mug on the coffee table and turning to me. “Life is crazy.”

I nod in agreement.

“My life has been nonstop crazy all year, and I would like to say that’s going to stop but…” She shrugs. “I don’t think it will. Not yet, anyway. But over the last few weeks, there was one thing I was always, always sure of.”

“What’s that?” I ask with bated breath.

“I was sure that I loved you. All of you.” She smiles that brilliant smile at me and I give the grin right back. “I’m sure that at the end of the day, regardless of family, friends, or jobs, you’re the person I want by my side.”

“Janie. Fuck. Isn’t that supposed to be my speech?”

She cocks her head. “So, you want me to move in with you and the guys?”

“Fuck no.” I laugh. “That would be awful. Why give all this up?” I gesture around the room.

“Okay, good.” She laughs too. “As much as I love them, I think this space may benefit us better.”

“Agreed.”

“And I want you to have my spare room.”

I quirk a brow. “I was under the impression we’d be sharing a room.”

She chuckles again and shoves me playfully. “I mean…” She clears her throat. “You can use that room as your… studio of sorts. Keep all your work in there, or at least supplies if you want to work out here.”

“You’d be fine if I wanted to work out here?”

“Yeah.” She nods. “At least until we’re married, and I start nagging more.”

I laugh outright and shake my head. “Did you just ask me to move inandpropose? You’re stealing all of my jobs.”

“No, I didn’t.” She gives me a silly look. “At least notyet.”

I shake my head and press a hard kiss to her lips, depositing my mug so I have full use of both of my hands.

She laughs and I watch that grin, look over her beautiful face and take my first real breath in weeks.

“Janie.”

She stops laughing at my serious tone and focuses her attention on me.

“I love you so much. I promise you, now and forever, nothing else will ever tear us apart.”

Her eyes fill with tears and she nods her head.

“I won’t ever leave you,” I promise. “We may have fights, we’ll have our ups and our downs, but I won’t ever leave again,” I finish on a whisper.
