“No, you don’t, rock star. Come on, we have some celebrating to do, old man.”

“I told you, no birthday surprises. I just want it to be a normal day.”

“Tanner, you have the day off. We’re in a new country and I want to go out. Forget your birthday, your girl wants to explore. Can you really say no to me?”

Rolling onto my back, I pulled her on top of me, so her petite frame pressed against my body, making me instantly hard. “My girl, eh? I like the sound of that, angel. Do we have to go out, though? I can think of some fun things we can do right here.” I ground myself against her, pulling her mouth to mine. Slapping my chest, she pushed herself off me.

“Up, Tanner. Now. We leave in thirty minutes and no matter how famous you are, this can’t wait. Move your sexy ass into the shower while I grab you a coffee.”

She climbed off me, dragging the covers with her, throwing them onto the floor, so I couldn’t just pull them back over me and fall asleep again. Her eyes glinted with mischief as she stared down at my naked body and hard cock.

“That”—she pointed at my erection—“we can save for later.” She wiggled her eyebrows before turning and leaving the room, while I forced my exhausted ass into the shower.

Thirty minutes later, I found her waiting for me by the elevator, with a coffee for us both and a bacon roll for me. She shouted to Matt to tell him we were leaving and he and Rob appeared from nowhere, wearing thick coats and dark sunglasses.

“Where are we going, angel, and am I dressed suitably?” She looked me up and down and laughed at my ripped black jeans, a light gray sweater, and leather jacket.

“Nope, not in the slightest. I should have given you better instructions. Go put on what you wore last night. It’s cold out there.”

“Hand over the coffee and I will change while I get my caffeine fix. Give me five.”

Layered up and warmer than an oven, I stepped into the elevator with her and our two bodyguards, when I noticed she wasn’t wearing a wig or any sort of disguise.

“Do we not need to hide who we are, Em? I don’t want Mum getting any more photos of you.”

“Not where we’re going, Tan. You can relax.”

I went to press the button to reception, but she grabbed my hand, wrapping her fingers through mine. With her other one, she pressed the top button marked ROOF.

“Why are you taking me to the roof? What are you planning on doing with me? Should I be worried?” I questioned, circling her with my arms, needing to be as close to her as possible, not caring that Matt and Rob saw us together.

It took seconds to get from our penthouse suite to the roof, where she stopped in front of the door marked EXIT.

“Before we go out there, I want you to thank Addi for sorting this in the middle of the night when I had the idea. She’s pulled some serious strings. Also, you’re paying for it all. It’s coming out of yourrock star millions. Addi’s words, not mine. I know you don’t want to celebrate your birthday, so I won’t mention it again, but I want you to have a day where you feel special. A day that can remind you how important you are to me… in fact, to everyone here. Trust me, Tanner?”

“Of course, angel,” I replied, kissing her lightly on the cheek.

“Then let’s go fly.”

She pushed open the door to the deafening sound of blades whirling as we stepped out to the helicopter waiting outside on the roof for us.

“Your chariot, sir,” she shouted above the noise and I couldn’t help but notice the way she smacked my ass as she called me sir. My heart raced in my chest and I didn’t know if it was nerves, excitement, or something else—the undeniable way this woman had crawled under my skin and into my heart.

“Emmy, Tanner, welcome aboard. I’m Kevin. Your pilot for your trip today. Any questions, you can just talk through the headphones you’re wearing, but if you want a private conversation, just turn the settings to 1 and you’ll only be able to hear each other. Our first stop is about fifteen minutes away, and then we’ll be flying for about an hour before setting the bird down so you can enjoy some time to see the sights before we make our way back to the hotel. Get buckled up. Then we can take off.”

Rob sat up front with Kevin, and Matt was across from us, keeping his dark glasses on and turning his face, making it clear he wasn’t watching us. I switched my headset to 1 and pointed for Emmy to do the same.

“What the hell, angel? How did you manage this?”

“I can be quite forceful and demanding, apparently. I woke Addison up at 4 am with the idea and we made it happen. It’s all for you, Tanner. This whole day is just for you,” she said matter of factly, a huge grin lighting up her face.

“Thank you. I mean it. This is… unexpected. Where are we going?” I asked, more excited about the day ahead than I’d felt for years.

“We’re going to magic places. It’s time to recharge your cosmic connection. I want you to remember how beautiful the world is. I want you to have fun for no other reason than because you can.”

Cupping her face, I pulled her towards me and kissed her lightly, aware that we had an audience, even if they pretended not to see.

“In case I forget to tell you later, I had a really good time tonight, Em.”
