“Angel?” he husked out.

“When we get off the plane, outside, we’re going to kiss. You’re going to tell the world you’re in love with me and that we ask for some privacy. Okay?”

I couldn’t help but smile as I watched his face switch from broken to grinning like an excited kid at Christmas.

“You’re sure, angel? This is what you want?”

Was I sure I wanted to step out in front of the world’s press and make my relationship with this man public knowledge?Nope, but was I going to sit back and be a victim in all this?Hell, no.“I’m sure, but please don’t think I’ve forgiven you for what you said about my dickhead dad. I’m livid that you would accuse me of wanting something from you… from any of you.”

“Emmy, please. I was—”

Holding up my hand, he stopped mid-sentence. “I don’t want to hear it, rock star. I’m done talking to you for a while. Right, Addi, come and help me find something to wear so I don’t look like a slob.”

She grabbed my hand, and we moved to search my suitcase for something to stand in front of the world in.

Chapter 25

Tanner

Igroanedasshestepped out of the onboard bedroom. Addi had curled Emmy’s hair and applied the lightest of makeup, so she glowed. Head to toe in black, wearing 4-inch heels, skin-tight leather leggings, and a sleeveless top, showing off her toned arms.

“Right, finishing touches,” Addi announced, lowering a long silver necklace over her neck that hung down between her breasts, and then painted a rich red lipstick on her lips, making her kiss a tissue once she was done.

“Shit, Emmy, you look stunning. Doesn’t she, Tanner?”

I growled. It was the only sound I could make to show her how she made me feel. Her eyes flicked to mine, narrowing, silently telling me that even though she was furious with me, she was doing all this for me.Fuck, I love her so much.

“Thank you,” I whispered, kissing her forehead.

“No, thank you for going along with this. It feels like the only way. Give them what they want and they will leave us alone. Hopefully.”

“Right, shall I go out as me or rock star Tanner?”

“Rock star, otherwise my outfit’s wasted.”

“Rock star it is. Give me fifteen minutes.”

I kissed her softly, her body relaxing into mine. “Go, Tan. I’m way too angry with you to let you kiss me like that.”

We disembarked from the plane into a private area of the airport and everything seemed normal, but I could sense that the minute we stepped outside, it would all change, and I wasn’t wrong.

As we walked through the sliding doors, flashes blinded us as people screamed my name. Our army of security surrounded us and I grabbed hold of Emmy’s hand. “Whatever you do, angel, do not let go of me. Promise?”

“Promise. God. This is insane.”

“I know. Just keep moving and don’t let go.”

I nodded at Matt on the other side of her and he took her elbow, showing me that he would keep her safe. Rob walked in front of us all and Frankie and the twins were behind us with Rylee and Addi and their security.

“Come on, angel, let’s do this.”

We stepped further into the crowd, the police holding them back from us. I held my hand up and waited for the crowd to grow silent.

“Wow, a lot has happened while we’ve been in the air. It seems that someone has decided to leak our news before we were ready to share it, so I want to confirm that the rumors are correct. I’m off the market. I have fallen madly and deeply in love with Emmy and she is with us, writing a book about the band that you can preorder right now. Emmy has been with us for a while and she and I have been together for months, so I’d appreciate it if we can stop all the stories about her taking advantage of us or only being here because of who her dad is. I’d also love it if you can give us some space. I don’t know if you know, but it’s hard being in a relationship in the public eye and I don’t want you to blow this for me. I think she’s a keeper and I don’t want you lot to ruin it for me.” The crowd laughed.

“So, we’re giving you what you want. Get your cameras out as we’re going to kiss and then please give us some privacy. We’re happy to set up some interviews once the tour is over. You can call our press office to arrange them. Emmy Winters, meet the press. Press people, meet Emmy.” I leaned down, cupping her cheek, bringing my lips to hers, turning her body slightly, so the flashes didn’t blind her. We kissed for a moment before she pulled back, her eyes searching mine. Then she smiled, and the world stopped turning. I forgot about the cameras, the blinding flashes, and people screaming out our names. All I wanted was that smile.

“I love you, rock star,” she mouthed, and I didn’t worry that people would have caught it on film and would unpick whether or not it was real for days on daytime TV and news shows.
