Gray crushed his lips against Ivy’s and I continued to touch her swollen belly in total shock.

“Sorry, firefly, it’s just such a surprise. Of course, it doesn’t matter. She’s ours.” Gray paused. “She’s really ours?”

“She’s ours in about four months. We made a tiny person.”

“Fuck, we don’t have a house, a crib, a car seat…” I started to panic.

“Breathe, Eth. We have time. I’m stuck in bed for the next four months because my poor pelvis is too weak to hold a baby in, so we have all the time to shop online and sort the house. And Grayson’s family will help us.”

“Yeh, we will!” Mav shouted, obviously listening outside the door.

“Can I come in and hug you yet?” Lori cried, before running in and smothering Ivy in kisses, rubbing her belly, with a huge grin on her face. “A cosmic granddaughter. I’m so excited.”

Ivy - 2 years later

"Justbreathe,princess.Don’tforget to breathe.”

“Fuck off, Eth. Breathing is not going to help. Why do you people keep making me do this? No more, I swear to God, you’re both getting the snip. No more kids.”

She cried out, digging her nails into our hands as another contraction racked her body.

“I need drugs. Just knock me out and tell me when it’s all over.”

“You don’t mean that, firefly. Look at me, look at me and breathe. Nice, long, slow breaths. Getting angry won’t help. This baby doesn’t want to come and meet their angry mama. They want to meet her when she’s smiling, lighting up the world.”

“Your smooth mouth is probably what got me into this mess again, Grayson.”

“And you wouldn’t change a second of it.”

He was right, I wouldn’t change a thing. Star was born four months after the fire. A week over her due date, looking like both her daddies and nothing like me, but I didn’t care for a second.

Ethan’s arm took over a year to heal, but he dealt with it amazingly, managing the band like a pro and never once complaining. The Cosmic Gods finished their tour before they took a year off to set up their own label, which now had ten bands signed to them. They focused on more studio time and less time on the road and were all happier for it. Even Grayson had found his passion again. Watching him play made my skin tingle, partly because I loved listening to them and partly because I’d become their press officer. Just like Ethan, I’d started with no experience, but because I wanted to protect Grayson, I protected them all fiercely.

“Kiss me. I need one of you to kiss me. Distract me, because otherwise, this baby isn’t coming out.”

Gray’s lips found mine. Slow, deep, touching my soul until I groaned out. Ethan’s lips landed on my neck and no matter how loudly the midwife tutted at our behavior, I didn’t want them to stop.

“Okay, Ivy, I need you to push. When you feel the next contraction, I need you to bear down and push.”

Digging my hands into the bed, I pushed, crying out as my body burned.

“The heads out. Now, one last big push and baby will be out. Ready?”

I was so tired I could barely reply.

“You got this, princess. You’re nearly done and we’re so fucking proud of you.”

My next contraction ripped through me as I pushed, panting through the pain.

“Ivy, you have a daughter.” She lifted her, laying her on my chest, and I couldn’t help but giggle at her red curls.

“Hey baby girl, welcome to the constellation. I'm your mummy. Do you want to meet your daddies?”

Ethan

“Idon’tcarewhatyou want from the band. They don’t want to do it. You can moan all you want, but they do things on their terms these days, and it’s my job to make that happen. We’re happy to do one night, but no more… Excellent. One of the team to call you and work out the details.”
