He turned, his eyes wide. He’d been off his face for so long that we’d all lost our connection with him, but recently, a sober Tanner seemed more like the old him. The him I remember when we were teenagers playing together in the garage.

“Gray, while I really don’t want to see you having sex, I don’t care who you have it with. None of us do. Who you love has nothing to do with us and wouldn’t change how we feel about you. Did you think it would?”

I shrugged, not sure how to express my fears to him.

Tanner turned to face me, pulling his forehead to mine. It was such a simple move, but I felt his love spilling into me, giving me hope that this would all work out and I could have the two people I loved without losing anything in the process. “Look, one day this band will be ancient history and it won’t have meant shit if doing this didn’t make us happy. You think we don’t see it in you, but we do. I do, especially. I see someone broken and miserable. If those two people in there change that, then I’m all for it. Do you want to tell the others, or shall I?”

Nerves suddenly surge through me. “Do you think they’ll be okay with it? What will Addi say? My ‘sex life’ has been enough of a problem and most of that wasn’t even true. What will they say now I’m in love with two people?”

“Why don’t we find out?” Tanner stepped back from me and yelled. “Emergency band meeting. Get your asses out here now!”

One by one, they all appeared. Frankie, Mav, and Addi.

“Okay people, I’ve just had the joyous sight of walking in on my brother fucking, so new band rule… lock your suite doors. Please. I’m begging you. In other news, Gray is in love with two people. He thinks you’ll hate him, or it will ruin the band. If you think that, then you’re fired.”

“Has this got anything to do with when you vanished for a month?” Addi asked, frowning.

“Yes.”

“And does this have anything to do with the beautiful Ivy, big brother?” I nodded and Frankie laughed, grabbing my hand. “I don’t know if you know, but you are rubbish at hiding your feelings. I knew there was something going on. I said it to… well, anyway. Can we meet them?”

I rubbed my hand over my chest as I forced the air into my lungs. All this time panicking, and no one minded. The band wasn’t falling apart. No one hated me and no one was judging me. The relief was a physical release in my body.

“Hey, Gray. We will never think badly of you, but you can’t hide this stuff from me and expect me to protect you. You need to be honest from now on. Promise.”

“Promise, Addi. I’m sorry, and thank you.”

I realized the only person who hadn’t spoken was my twin brother. “Mav?” I asked, the fear vibrating in my voice.

“How did I not know? When?”

“A couple of years ago. That month I vanished, I spent it with them, but I ran because I was scared how I’d be a Cosmic God and the person I am with them.”

“All that time when you were miserable and refusing groupie blow jobs, that was them?”

“That was them.”

“But I’m your twin. I should have known. I’m so sorry, bro. But you know, I’m not happy. I’m the sexy brother, so I think it should be me having three-way sex.”

I laughed loudly, and he smiled, but then his face fell.

“Make me a promise, Gray. If you ever have to choose—them or the band. Always, always choose them.”

I slapped him on the back, hoping I’d never have to choose because there'd be nothing to decide. I would always choose Ivy and Ethan.

“Right, go get them then. I want to meet the people who stole my twin’s heart, and I had no clue.” And I couldn’t help but notice how sad he looked as it he said those last few words.

I ran to my room, and Ivy and Ethan were sitting, waiting for me. They’d gotten dressed again, and Ivy had tied up her wild curls. They looked as nervous as I felt.

“You want to come, meet my family?”

Ethan stood, helping Ivy from her seat before they wrapped their hands in mine and we walked back into the penthouse, my heart pounding. “Everyone, this is Ethan and Ivy. My… partners.”

Frankie burst into fits of laughter. “God, sorry, I’m a child. Ignore me. I am so glad to meet you both. Butpartners, Gray. It makes you sound like you’re a 100!”

I glared at my sister, feeling like we were kids again when she would annoy me every chance she got.

“It’s nice to see you again, Ivy. And nice to meet you, Ethan.” Tanner stepped toward Ivy, hugging her before shaking Ethan’s hand and then everyone else followed and I watched the people I loved most in the world all getting to know each other, a warm feeling spreading through my body.
