His words are like a slap to the face, and I wrapped my arms around my waist in a pathetic attempt to protect myself from this madman. “Who are you?”

“I shouldn’t really tell you, but you won’t be around long enough to tell anyone else, so I guess I can. I’m Amos. I was born to rid the world of sin.”

I dropped my arms to my sides, my fear replaced with something else. The whole thing sounding like a bad B-rate movie. “Wow, did you have to interview for that job or what?”

His body hardened with rage as he stared at me. He ran his hands over my matted curls before he yanked my head back violently, making me cry out. He leaned over me, his breath so close I felt sick. “Not many people have traditional values anymore, Ivy. People think they can take what they want. But what if their desires are the devil at play? What if you’re fucking with the devil?”

“I’m sorry, but what are you talking about?” I spat back, trying to push him off me, my body burning from the effort.

“My mum. She saw the devil in yourhusbandand she tried to help him, but he was weak. He forced her out of a job she loved. She wanted me to help her right the wrongs done to her. I’ve been in England for a few years now, so it was much easier for me to get to you than her.”

“Your mum? Your mum is Hazel?” I asked, the situation suddenly making sense.

“Well, Mum and I are part of something bigger. A group of men and women out to remove sin from the world.”

“Why do you get to decide what’s sinful and what’s not? I mean, kidnapping is pretty sinful.”

“The devil would say that.”

Fury bubbled inside me. “You said I was fucking the devil, not that I was the devil himself. Make up your mind.”

“See, even now, you’re toying with me, trying to trick me with your words. Did you, or did you not fuck and marry two men?”

I didn’t answer.

He pressed the knife to my neck again. “I’ll ask you one more time and if you don’t admit your sins, I will slit your neck where you stand and deal with the wrath of my mother later. Did you fuck two men and marry them both?”

“Yes,” I sobbed out.

“Did you let them fuck you at the same time?” I swallowed as he pushed his hard cock against my soft folds at the same time as he forced the point of the knife to the pulse point on my neck.

“Yes.”

“Whore!” he screamed at me. “Fucking whore. This is what I mean. It’s not normal. Having two men inside you is not normal. You’re either fucking the devil or you’re possessed by him. Either way, your sins need to be punished. Mum saw it and now I see it. I should fuck you right now just to cleanse their evil from your pussy.”

My body shook with fear. “Amos, please—”

“It’s too late for begging. You should have let Mum help you and your disgusting husbands, and none of this needed to happen. Now it’s time to put a stop to it. I wonder if they’ll cry for you or if they’ll just replace you with another whore. Although, I have to admit that I will miss looking at you.” He twisted his fingers through my lank curls before pulling the bag over my head and pushing me to move. I screamed out as the pain in my hip became too much. Jabbing the blade against my back, he shoved me harder, and I limped, virtually having to drag my leg to wherever he was taking me.

Although I had no clue where we were going, I couldn’t suppress my cry as I smelled the fresh air, even with the bag over my head, and heard the noise of the outside world—the breeze, the birds, and the traffic in the distance—until he shoved me hard, sending me falling against something solid that made the world turn silent again.

“It was fun, Ivy,” he laughed out manically. “You gave a good fight. I hope the scratches on my face scar, so I can remember you forever.”

Chapter 32

Grayson

“Therewasnosignof her in the lake,” Thomas informed us all. We’d waited for hours, watching as the divers searched for her, until eventually Tanner and Mav had driven us home.

Ethan let out a sob as he reached for my hand, and we let out a collective sigh at the news. But the moment of relief was instantly replaced with fear because we still had no idea where she was.

“So, we have two other options,” Thomas explained. “Either your wife left her phone and bracelet as a sign she wanted to leave you both and she walked away, but I have eyes searching everywhere for her and those curls make her pretty hard to hide, so I think the more likely option is someone’s taken her.”

I sucked in a breath, panic spreading through me because it had been four days since she went missing. Four days that someone else had her.

“I knew it. I knew she wouldn’t walk away from us. Ethan, are you listening?” Tears spilled down my cheeks as I tried to swallow down the idea that someone had taken the woman we loved and while we searched a lake for her, they were doing God knows what to her.

Mav stepped between us and wrapped his arms around us both. “This is good news. She’s alive. We just need to work out where she is. We can do that. We can find her. Don’t fall apart now.”
