“Never, Eth. You have me for eternity. We've created our own constellation. I would never want to step away from that. Although I am pulling in favors to make sure I get a job with the band. I want to be a part of your new plans.”

“You always were,” Ethan promised her before kissing her slowly, his hands tightening on my shirt as if he was trying to curb his need to devour her.

“Gray?” I heard Ed’s voice from the doorway. “Someone’s triggered the silent alarm at the back of the house and the external cameras have gone off. Do you want me to go and check it out?”

“No, absolutely not. I don’t want your skinny ass getting shot on my watch. Turn on the outside lights. All of them, plus the lights in every room in the house. Let’s blind her. Also, call Thomas and let him know.”

“On it.”

“Do you really think it’s her?” Ivy asked.

“I listened to her poison for months,” I replied. “It’s her. She hates everything about people who aredifferent.Who don’t fit her idea of normal. Who dare to choose their own path. She didn’t get me to conform, she didn’t get you, firefly, so I guess this is her final attempt.”

“How do you know it’s her final attempt?”

“Because it ends tonight. There's no way Thomas will let her walk away from this.”

Ivy’s eyes flicked between us and then she smiled. “Then let’s flood the place with light and find the bitch, because I’m not letting her hurt any of us ever again.”

Imovedtostand, pain shooting through my hip, causing me to limp to the doorway, so I could help my husbands secure the house. “Shit,” I spat out.

“Sit, princess please.”

“I want to help.”

“And you can help by sitting. Please,” Ethan begged.

“Fine. I’ll sit.”

As I sat back at the kitchen island, I stared out of the windows, watching the bright lights outside illuminating the night sky. The longer I watched, the more I noticed them dancing. Hypnotically drawing me in. Then the smell hit me.

“Fire! Oh my God, Eth, Grayson, fire!”

Huge flames suddenly surrounded the back of the house, licking at the windows and back doors, preventing our escape.

“We need to move,” Ethan commanded, scooping me up in his arms and running through the house to the front door where Grayson was already unlocking it. He pulled it open, only to be met by more flames, the heat of them searing into the house.

Slamming the door shut again, he turned to us. “Shit. Ethan, go get sheets or blankets. We need to soak them in water.” Ethan moved to get them while Gray pulled out his phone, calling the emergency services to report the fire, giving them our address before calling Thomas and putting him on speaker phone.

“Thomas, there’s a fire.”

“Where?”

“Everywhere. Thomas, it’s everywhere. What do I do?” Gray tried to steady the fear in his voice, but the crack was there for me to hear.

“Get out of there.”

“There are flames around all the doors and windows. I don’t know if we can. And if we manage to get through the flames and she’s out there with a gun, then what?”

“Where’s Ed?”

“I have no idea.”

“I’m ten minutes away. Fuck it, make it five. Block the bottom of all the doors. Find somewhere that’s in the center of the house and text me what room you’re in.”

“Hurry, please,” Grayson begged before hanging up. “You heard him, firefly. Dining room. Now. Please don’t argue. You’re not in a fit state to help us, but I need to keep you safe. Don’t move from there unless one of us is with you. Promise?”
